The Honorable Board of Jefferson County Commissioners met in regular session with
all members present. '
Representatives of the State Highway Department, J. E. Champers, A. R. Morrell,
Joe Bell and T. B. Stone, were present and presented the Corridor Location map to the
, Board showing the proposed location of the State Hiway from Crocker Lake to the Shine
Junction, for connection with the Hood Canal Bridge. A motion was made by Lyall Arey,
seconded by George Huntingford, that the plan be accepted by the Board of County _
Commissioners for Jefferson County, and the plan filed.

Mr. Harry Cotton, Chairman of the committee for the celebration at the opening of the
Hood Canal Bridge, August 5, 1961, appeared before the Board. Tentative plans are for '
the opening of the Bridge and then for subsequent festivities,clam bake, etc., to be
held at Hudson Point. The Count! will assist in any necessary work.
This being the time advertised for opening bids for construction of bituminous plant
mix surfacing on three and 2/10 miles of Clearwater Road, the following bid was received:
Interstate Asphalt Co., Inc., Unit Price $10.00 total $46,000.00.
Upon motion of George Hunt ingfo rd, seconded by Lyali Arey, the above bid was accepted for
Interstate Asph~lt Co., Inc., in amount of $46,000.00. .
A call for bias was made for County printing, set for -July 3, 1961 at 10:00 A. M.
A petition for vacation of that portion of Washington Street lying between the S.
line of Columbia St., and the Northerly line of State Highwa~ No. 101, in Hamilton'.s
Five Acre Tractsz. Jefferson County, signed by First Presbyterian Church of Quilcene,. .
officers - Mrs. ". L. McClurg, President~ Merrill Maberry, V. P., Harold L. Beamer, Sec.,
and Ethyl L. Larsen, was filed with the tloard. Monday,: the..17th cUv of July, at 10:00 !,

An application for Sale of County Property was approved as follows:
Anthony E. Breenb 127 Taylor St., Port Townsend, - Eisenbeis Addition, Lots l-8,
Block 235, offered $50. o. .
Applications for renewals of liquor licenses were approved for:
Wallace Ulysses Norton, d/b/a Norton's Gardiner Store, Gardiner, EF
ChesurE. Strand, and Pearl Strand, d/b/a Trails' End Tavern, Sou~_Point
Ferry Dock, Route, 1, Chimacum, ABCE ' .
The Board of Commiss:.l.oners accepted the road oiling program, North Section, $18,000 00
South Section, $17,000.00, upon motion by Lyall Arey, seconded by George Huntingford,
and Resolutions Nos. C-471 and C-472 were signed as follows:

IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS that it is their intention
to improve certain county roads in the north end of Jefferson County wi th light
bitUMinous surface treatment
BE I'f FUR'fHER RESOLVED THAT for the foregoing proper county road purpose there is hereby
appropriated sums in the following detail:

The county road purpose herein described is HEREBY DELCARED to be a public necessity
and the County Road Engineer io HEREBY ORDERED AND AUTHORIZED to report and proceed
thereon as by lnw provided.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this purpose be performed by day labor. in accordanco with
tho Standard Road and Bridge Specifications of the State of ~aahington as adopted by
this Board.
