The Honorable Board of Jefferson County Commissioners met in regular session with ali members present. . . A letter was received from the Department of Natural Resources stating the County's, share of money received for removal of gravel on 'liSE;, Sec. 35, Twp. 27 N., R 1 V., ' ; will be $l4. 59. ' A notice was received from the State Liquor Control Board stating that Chester E. Strand and Pearl Strand d/b/a Trails' End Tavern - So. Pt. Ferry Dock R 1, Port Townsend, has been granted CDE license but disapproved application for Class B in lieu of Class D license. Applications were approved for C. V. Dorothy, Hiway: lOl.!. Brinnon EF Robert Harrison Rodgers and Louise Anna Rodgers, d/b/a uiscovery Bay Tavern, R2, Lots 3 and 4, Port Townsend - BEF Lloyd Ernest McMillen a nd Gertrude L. :McMillen, d/b/a Gert and Mac's Grocery, Rt. 2, Quilcene, Wash., E. F. This being the time advertised for opening bids for County printing and the following bids were received. The Leader Co., solid type $2.40 per loo words for lst insertion, and $1.80 per 100 words for subsequent insertions. Not solid matter - 90~ per column inch for 1st insertion and 80~ for subsequent insertions. Key City Star - solid type - l~~ per word per insertion. Not solid - 70 cents per column inch per insertion. A motion was made by Commissioner Lyall Arey that the bid of Port Townsend Leader is the best bid at this time with circulation of 3000 copies per week" compared to less than 400 daily by the Key City Star. This motion was seconded by George Huntingford. Motion carried. Mr. Albert Smith appe~red relative to a road. in Nordland. The Engineer is to make a report as to whether it is a County road. Mr. and Mrs. David Curdie from Marrowstone Island appeared relative to a road near their home. The Engineer will investigate the drainage ditch and try and eliminate a hazard. Fund Soldiers' & Sailors Relief $11,776.51- 82,627.35 176.52 688.04 685.55 35000 63.60 Pursuant to Statute, the members of the Board inspected the County Jail and found it to be in very excellent condition, clean a nd well policed. The change in food handling for prisoners was found to be an improvement in efficiency, reflecting close attention ' to the premises by the Sheriff and Matron. Pursuant to Statute the County Commissioners ordered a complete inventory of all public property to be filed with the County Auditor for public inspection and after filing such inventory to se published as required by law. In connection wi. th the exchange of County land for lands owned by the State of Washington, Resolution No. C-473 was signed as follows: RESOLUTION NO. C-473 . WHEREAS, for a considerable period of time last past the State of WaShington, I acting through its Commissioner of Public Lands, and Jefferson County, acting by and through its Board of County Commissioners, have had under negotiation the exchange of lands wherein and whereby the State of Washington would acquire lands of Jefferson County and Jefferson County would acquire state lands under the jurisdiction of the Department of Natural Resources, such exchange to be carried out and concluded under appropriate statutory power and authority, and M1EREAS, the Board of Natural Resources of the State of Washington . : has found and d etennined that the acquisition by the State of Washington of the following described lands owned by Jefferson County, to-wit: The ,Southeast Quarter of the Northwest Quarter (SEkNWk) of Section 15, and the North- east Quartel' of the Northwel3t Quarter (N$nIk) of Section 26, all in Township 27 North, ,Range 1 West of the W11lamette Meridian; The Northeast Quarter of the Northeast Quarter (NE~NE~) of Section 33 and the North- west Quarter of the Northweot Quarter (Nlfl;N1fk) of Secti on 34, all in Township 2~ North, Range 1 West of the 1I111amette Meridian; Tho Southeuot Quarter of the Northeast Quarter (SE~NE~) and tho Northeast Quarter of the Southeast Quartor (NE~SE~) of Soction 12, Township 2$ North, Rnage 2 ~09t of the 1[llamette Meridian; SUBJECT TO: Oil and gas 10aoe on the Northwest Quartor of the Northwost QUarter (~N~) of Seotion 34, Townahip 2~ Nort~, Range 1 West W.
