The Honorable Board of Jefferson County Commissioners met in regular session with all
members present.
Mr. MELVIN Kivley, representing the TriArea Businoss Club of Hadlock, discussed the
proposition of locating a road to Port Ludlow along the watorfront. This matter will be
considered when making up next year's road program.
A letter was received from the North Olympic Chamber of Commerce urging the Board to
post the old Shine Road to attract tourists to come to Port Townsend.
This being the time for hearing on the continuance of the petition of the First
Presbyterian Church of Quilcene, for vacation of a portion of Washington Street lying
between the Southerly line of Columbia Street and the Northerly line of State H!v,ay lOl in
Hamilton's Five Acre Tracts. Mr. Noah Johnson explained the changeD that could be made.
A. Clemens Grady appeared representinG the petitioners. Rev. Richard Denham and "Mr. Julian
Oen appeared for petitioners. A motion was made that the street be vacated,by Lyall Arey
seconded by George Huntingford. It was agreed the Church will give an easement on the
parking lot for Puget Sound Power and Light Company for power lines.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved as read.

A peti tion was received from Mr. Harry A. Cotton for vacation of Plat known as
Portion of Ocean Grove, filed September 17, l$9l~ The Board fixed the time of hearing at
10:00 A. M., on September 5, 1961.
In connection with the exchange of land between Jefferson County and the Department of
Natural Resources, a deed was signed by the Board of County Commissioners, nunc pro tunc
to July 17, 19611 deeding several pieces of land in exchange for the S~ of sk Sec. $s
and"N~ ~ Sec. 7, T. 30 N., R. 1 N., W. M., Jefferson County, for garbage dump and
gravel si te.
Applications for Sale of County Pro~erty were approved as follows:
Mrs. Grey C. Hamer, Rt 1, Port fownsend, Iron dale , Lots 17. Blk 25, '10.00 offered.
Richard M. Morgan - ~.l of Blk 51 except Lots 1,2,3,4, & 5 - All of Blk 52 -60,
61, Lots 1 to 6, all in Fowler's Park Add. to Port T~'nsend. Offered $250.00
A coPy of the ggreement for the use of land wi. th the Dept. of Game for County Road
R/ll in SW~ Sec. 25 T. 28 N., R2W, W. M., for installation of 1 double drum electrically
driven fish screen together with necessary supporting structure, diking and power pole,
was signed.
Applica tion for liquor license was approved for Oren Connor and Pauline Conner, d/b/a
Conner's Corner Grocery, Rt. 1, Port Townsend, EF.
A letter was received from the U. S. Deptj of Interior complimenting the Board for
its fLne progress in maintaining and improving the Hoh Road by surfacing, and making it
dust free.
A letter was received from the Dept. of Natural Resources stating the County's share
of money received from Pope & Talbot,f Inc.&.for removal of timber under T.B.S. 1266 -

Mr. Art Halvorsen appeared relative to garbage disposal in the County. The matter
will be taken under consideration and decided at a later date.
^ r,roup of poopsrty owners from south of Adelma Beach appeared bef~re the Board. Mr.
wm. J. Haigh, Mr. Frank Bran Mr.. and Mrs. Arnold Sather, Mrs. Floyd Hart, Dewey Lane,
Alan Barnhart, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd JOhnSOni Mrs. Angelo Dacquisto and others appeared for
the purpose of a Durvey to be 1m de for re ocating Adelma Beach Road South. A motion was
made by Lyall Aroy, seconded by George Huntingford that the survey be lIB de as early as
possible.
Mr. Josph Welch appeared relative to fire doors for fUrnace room at tho Courthouse.
This has beon demanded by the insurance company. Upon motion made by Lyall Arey, seconded
by George lIuntinr,ford, that proposals will be sent out as soon as posaible.
Mrs. Joyce Moller of Bothell appeared before the Board requesting permission to cross
County property, Lot 4, Sec. 6, T. 31 N. R 1 W., W. M. An easement will be prepared for
signature by the Board members.
The plats of Cape George Colony, Divisions 3 and 4 were presented to the Board by
Howard G. Riddell. Upon motion by Lyall Arey, seconded by George Huntingford, they were
approved.
A proposal was received from Asphalt Paving and Engineoring Co. for extra work on thoir
contract, County Road Project #222~ Chima cum-Center Road, 960 tons Bituminous Plant mix
@ $5.5" 1lsphaltic cOlllcrete curb, "/5 !in ft. @ .04. Approved by the Board.
Mrs. Lea C. Do.via appeared represonting the Biatori cal Society requeoting additional
money to keep the Historical Library open one day a week. Upon motion by George Huntingford
soconded by Lyall Arey, $260.00 will be placed in the preliminary budget.
