All those portions of the old Center-Chimaeum road outside of the right of way of way of the present existing road (Co.Rd. No. 18) as relocated and replaced by C.R.P. No. 167, approved February 3, 1958, from the south line of the NE~ of Sec. 3, T. 28 N., R. 1 W., W.M.; thence northerly through the NE~ of said Sec. 3. T. 28 N., R. 11f., W.M., and through the E~ of Sec. 34, the Nit of Sec,'35, the ~ of Sec. 26, the wi of Sec. 23, and theSik of Sec. 14, T. 29 N., R. 11f., W.M. 18. That portion of the old Townaend-Chimacum road replaced by the construction of Permanent Highway No. 71. dated February 1, 1925 (Co.Rd.No. 3~L, lying south of the right of way of the existing uounty Road No. 38 in the svt of the ~~ and the ~ of the SE~ of the S1fk of Sec. 34, T. 30 N., R 11f., if.M., . . . AND IN contemplation of the language of the statute,. R. C. w. 36.87.010, the same are useless, now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED, and this Board of County Commissioners does now declare its intention to vacate and abandon said roads, and be it . FURTHER RESOLVED, and the County Road Engineer is hereby directed to examine said roads and report his opinion as to whet~er'these county roads should be vacated and abandoned; whether any is in use or has been in use; the conditions thereof, and whether it will be adviseable to preserve said roads for the county road system in the future; whether the public will be benefited by the proposed abandonment, and all other racts, matters and things which will be of importance to the Board; and that such report be filed as soon as practicable. Rosellini, a commemoratDve plaque was placed on the front of the Jefferson County CourthouRe, in a public rededication ceremony on the 70th anniversary of the building, witnessed by a number of residents of the County, and pupils from several High Schools. Commissioner George Huntingford acted as Master of Ceremonies and introduced Mr. Kirk Cooper, son of George Cooper~ Mrs. Glen Dickinson, granddaughter of Andrew Weymouth. George Huntingford is the grandson of John ,Huntingford, who with Mr. Cooper and Mr. Weymouth comprised the Board when plans for the COURTHOUSE were adopted. Mr~ Vernon Blanchard was introduced as the son of 'H. L. Blanchard, : who with Andrew Weymouth and George Cooper comprised the Board in office when the building ~'was first occupied. . Mr. Huntingford read a short history compiled by 1[lliam J. Daly, Prosecuting Attorney, ,who was suffering from,laryngitis on this o~casion. December 21, '1852, an act defining the boundaries of Jefferson County, and an act locat ng the County seat of Jefferson County at Port Townsond, to Mrs. William H. Jackson, Cur~tor of the Jefferson County Historical Museum at Port Townsend. Amon. the spectators was retired Judge John M. Ralston, who presided on the bench of this County for many years~ No further business appearing, the meeting was adjourned until Monday, June 4, 1962.
