The State, as agent acting for and on behalf of the County shall advertise f011 bid~
award a contract and conatruct the above descr! bed project all in accordance with
plans and specifications as approved by the County, the State and the .Bureau of Public,
Roads.
II.
During the progrttss ,u),d construction and until .final completion of the project, the
State will act for the Co\.mty in all matters concerning the porject.

The State will furnish ~ ~esident eng1neer-ins~torl or other supervisor, for the
supervision and inspection of the work in progress. Suary of such insp~ctor or other
supervisor, and all. other salaries and costs incurred by the State en*l1nsering forces
upon the project will be considered a cost thereof. If any tounty engineering forces
are utilized in the conduct of the work, the salaries and wages of such torces and any
other expenses incurred by reason of the amployment of theCounty personnel, will be
considered a cost of the projectj provided, however, that the services of the County
Engineer and the County administrative or overhead expense are to be excluded. Separate
records are to be maintained ahowing; the time of each engineering employee upon the \<<Irk
and each charge against the project must be supported by a definite expenditure. All .
engineering costs incurred by reason of the employment of the County forces shall be ,
supported by the certification of the State resident engineer-inspector, or ather super-
visor furnished instead of such inspector, before payment, and shall be paid from local.
funds, after which payment reimbursement from the project funds shall be mDe to the County
for such payments, ei ther monthly or at such times as may be desirable to the parties ..
upon submission of a voucher to the State Department of Highways, any such voucher shall
be supported by certified copies of payrolls and all vouchers shall indicate the County"
warrant numbers. Such vouchers shall De submitted to the state'resident engineer-ins~to;
or other supervisor insteE\d of ouch inspector, in triplicate, who shall in turn certify ,the
correctness of the claim and forward same to the state district engineer for approval. ',The
state district engineer shall process such vouchers in the usual manner prescribed for
state highway business and shall charge the reimbursement to the engineering upon the
work. All engineering costs incurred by the state resident engineer-inspector and othe~
engineers and employees of the State, employed or working on the project, will be paid
directly by the State in the customary manner upon highway payrolls and vouchers, and
shall be charged as costs of the project.
IV.
All costs incurred and paid by the State which are denied as participating costs by
the Bureau of Public Roads in its final audit shall be the obligation of the County and
shall be included in roimbursement to the State.
V.
The total cost of the project, including all engineering costs and expenses of the .'
State, is to be paid from funds furnished by the Bureau of Public Roads uner the Federal
Aid Road Act of 1944 and by the County from its Fund, to the extent of _______________ ,;
monthly fuel tax allotments withheld to the extend of Eighty thousand four hundred twentiy-
six and 50/100 Dollars (t80,426.50), of this amount Thirty-six thousand nine hundred foUr
and nO/100 Dollars ($36,904.00) are calculated federal-aid participating funds and will'
be credited to the County when recei ved from the Bureau 0 f Public Roads.
The County will hpold the State harmless from any and all costs, claims, demands and
obligations of whatsoever nature arising by reaSon of the State's participation in or '
actions for the County in connection with the project.
The County agrees to defend at its own cost all suits or a ctions of whatsoever na tux-e
brought against the city or state arising from the execution or performance of any contract
in connection with the project or arising by reaSon of the State's participation in or
action'for the County with the project.
