The Honorable Board of County Commissioners met in regular session with all members
present. '
George Simpokes and delegation from Matts Matts Improvement'Club appeared in ~egard
to Mercurr lights and intersection widening requested previously. Reflector stakes
will be p aced at requested intereections.
Phil Copps, Puget Sound Power & Light Company, appeared in regard to underground
power lines to service area (Block 41 and 42,Eisenbeis Supplemental Plat to Ci,ty of
Port Townsend) Being presently purchased by Bob Sahli from the County.
Bill Russ requested permission to ruh approximately 850 feet of water line from
Miller Road to his property, with a 6 inch galvanized pipe. The Board approved
provided Edwin Becker, County Enginee~, shows him where to connect u?d approves his
layout.
Melvin Kively, representin~ the Tri Area Business Club, asked what decision had
been made on requests for mercury lights at Ness's Corner and Shell Station... Also,
sjated Tri Area Business Club favors Bookmobile service.
Letter reviewed from Bert Cole, Land Commissioner, regarding (confirming) countt's
share of monies received from Seaboard Lumber Co. ($5,360.00) for installment on timber
sale under application #31074, located on West'~, Northeast~, part west!, southeast t
of seftion 28, Township 27 North, Range 2 West, West Meridian. '
Board was in unan;mous agreement on Mr. Arey's motion and Mr. Kelly's seconn to
sign as approved the contract and permit for the sta te to continue using for a stockpile
site - Jefferson County Stockpile Site # 3335 'with no remuneration. Jefferson County
is using State site in Brinnon with no charge.
II a.m. Hearing held for petition for road vacation requested at February 6, 1967
meeting on a portion of County Road described as 'That portion of Bay'Street lying between
the meander line and the County road in Section 24, Township 29 North, Range 2 West, W. M.'
Request for vacation was made by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gunstone, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Margraaf,
and Mr. and Mrs, Fred Margraaf, Jr. A report was read from Edwin A. Becker, County
Engineer, , reqommeilding:,: the vacation. Letter ''laS read against'the proposed vacation

Petition read by Calmar McCune, attorney, and bearing 5l signatures of persons owning ,
property/ies in vi cini ty of Di,scovery Bay and Bay Street. Betty Pederson, Howard Reid,
Lawrence Purviance, Mr. Stocks, Robert, Reid apd Mr. Howe spoke against the vacation.
George Simpokes, Mrs. Viva Gunstone, Charles Gunstone spoke in favor of vacation.
Mr. Arey moved and Mr. Kelly seconded the motion that the va.cation hearing be
continued until March' 20th at lO a.m. so that Commissioners could investigate further.
Meeting was moved to the Court Room where Chairman George Huntingford continued the
meeting in regard to preliminary plat hearing for Pope & Talbot's Port Ludlow Village
development. Mr. Marsdun of Naramore, Bain, Brady and Johansen, Architects and Planners,
presented sketches and slides of similar'type development of Pope and Talbot's in .
California, featuring stores, play areas, condominiums, swimming pool areas, moorage,
etc.
Horton Dennis of Horton Dennis & Associates, Inc. consulting engineers, finished
their presentation with weather studies, boating facilities, public swimming areas
(lagoons), lot development, privatQ Raqqaet Club, proposed zoning. Included in their
plan will be green areas, water system and sanitary plant.
Mr. Huntingford asked for any objections from the public to the proposed Port Ludlow
development. None were received. Walter A. Kelly moved and Lyall Arey seconded the
motion that preliminary plans be accepted. It was unamimously approved.

Resolution D-5 regardin~ vacation of County Road No. 30g' was draWn diractin~ the
Engineer to examine as per written request presented by Pope & Talbot.
Joe Welch appeared regarding replucement of Court House insurance With Homer Smith
. gency. Joe stated that his company m.ll no longer carry the insurance. He placed a
ca'l to General Insllranoe Company's Tacoma offi ce, Robert Pierce, FU 3-3511, and the
Clerk of the Board inquired for the, Commissioners their reasono for cancellation. Mr.
Pierce stated their reasons were as follows:
1. Age of Buildin~
2. Type of Architecture
3. Dpem stairwell.
He further stated his company would put binder on extending present coverage until
other ooverage could be placed on it.
Joe, also, suggested that an inventory be taken of Court House, furniture, furnishings,
and oquipment for renewal review. Present coverage is $20,000.00. '
Hearin~ rescheduled for Maroh 10, 1967 on Bridgenaven, Division g.
Public Notice p-67-55 - request for pier in Pleaoant Harbor, Hood Canal made to
u. S. Army Engineers from Associated Seafoods Company, AQerdeen.
