August 7, 1967 The Regular meeting of the Board of Jefferson County Commissioners was called to order by Chairman George Huntingford with all members present. . En[:ineer Edwin Becker announced Albert Robinson will retire as Superintendent of County Roads on October 1, 1967. i I: 'I II Letter was read from Commercial Productions regarding film being made on County,' Government. For extra information on indi viduul counties there will be an extra charge'~ i 'j Motion made by Commissioner Arey and seconded by Commissioner Kelly to give permission to Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone to bury cable along the south side of Road No. 4 and easterly of County Road No. 18, as shown on their maps presented (located between Hadlock and Indian Island.) Mr. Arey moved and Mr. Kelly seconded motion to sell by bid the 1954 Chevy car of the Assessor's office. . I ~lrs. Dignum Clallam-Jefferson Counties Community'Actioh Council, appeared regarding the Rural Library District (propooed bookmobile), j'lrs. Hope IJodge, Clallam County Librarian, \-lOuld like the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners to invite the Cllallam County Library Board and the Cllallam County Commissioners to an evening meeting to discuss the proposed Bi-Counties Rurul Library District for Friday, Sept,S, 1967, at S p.m. I.Irs. lfuite, also of the CIallam IIWUQt Jefferson Counties Community Action Council appeared in regard to forming a County Housing Authority to build low cost housing throughout the county. ~ot housing project type housing but scattered housing. Commissioners must appoint housing authority. All counties have housing authorities but Jefferson. l~. Kelly expressed that there is a need for additional low cost housing. Y~i. Vfuite is to gather more information and report back to Board. Resolutions IJo. 16 and No. 17 were read regarding acquiring the necessary bookkeeping machines and equipment to update the Assessor's and Treasurer's offices (No. l6) and the Auditor's office (No. 17). Strong objection. were voiced by Pros- ecuting Attorney Daly and Commissioner Arey. ~jr. Daly felt public should be served with elevator before officials shou~d aquire time and labor saving machines to make their departments work more efficiently. It was decided that Resolutions be shelved until the preliminary budgets are in. Glenn Dean and Bert Owens appeared in regard to County obligations regarding road development on their proposed Marrowstone Island development. They offer.ed the County a small park area on the point of their development. Shine Park neighbors have been complaining on overnight campers. Mr. Arey moved and Mr. Kelly seconded motion that "NO OVERNIGHT PARKING" signs be posted at both Shine Park and the East Beach Park on Marrowstone Island. The Auditor reported a balance of $780.90 in the Soldiers and Sailors Relief I .. Fund. I film. Mr. Huntingford suggested that money be put in the budget for County Government Replacement of Road Superintendent Albert Robinson was discussed and shelved until the commissioners have time to give his replacement careful thought. Mrs. Helen Pattsmer of Port Towneend, her Seattle attorney, Mr. Prince, ~~. Robert Harper, Dr. William Scheyer and their attorney, Glean Abraham, all of Port Towns~d, appeared regarding road access for Harper and Scheyer's property through Mrs. Pattsner's property at Quilcene. Mrs Pattsner does not want a public road through her property. She and Mr. Prince pointed out route she would allow Harper and Scheyer access road, away from her road, house and landscaping. Harper and Scheyer are agree- able. Tom Heinbaugh, Courthouse maintenance man reported Tennis Court surface passabl~ and the net is all right. Wire around court in bad shape. Commissioners authorized replacement. . II II Neil Pendley, Teamster's Union representative, appeared on budget status representing union contract and benifits for the County Hoads Employees. 'I I Minutes for April, May und June wore read. Walter Kelly moved and Lyall Arey I" seconded motion minutes be approved as read. Unanimously approved. I Ii 'I It was reported by the Ul S.
