The Honorable Board of County Commissioners met this Tuesday, September 5. 1967,
due to Monday the 4th being a holiday, with all members present. .

Al Moen appeared in regard to petition previously presented Commissioners requestirg
their help in acquiring an easement for power .on 1'fJarrowstone Island. Contract between II

Mr. Sofie appeared in regard to Treasurer's and Assessor's equipment being install~d
in Sheriff's office with eye to Treasurer moving his facilities down to this flooro Also~

original census records for their research library.
Richard McCurdy., Owner/Editor of the Port TO'Nnsend Leader Company, brought Frank
Garred, the new OwnerlM:maging Edi tor of the Port Townsend Leader Company, in to meet
the Con~issioners.

Wayne DuPuis and Fred Williams appeared in regard to ~;arshall Addition and the
Williams Addition in Section 31, T 25 N, R 2 W (approximately 43 lots)~ Motion was
made by Lyall Arey and seconded by Walter Kelly that plats be signed and approved. It
was unanimously agreed..
Resolution No. 18 was approved as follows:

i~EREAS, The Jefferson County Highway Department has need of approximately 1,000
ton of asphalt road patching material at the present time, and
~~EREAS, the asphalt mixing plant needed to manufacture said material is a very
specialized apparatus, being available in the Jefferson County area on a very limited
time schedule, and
WHEREAS, The Washington Asphalt Company's mixing plant, capable of accomplishing
said work, will be available in the Jefferson County area during the first part of
September, 1967, and

\iJHEREAS, past records show that this material was last produced in
on contract, with J. D. Shotwell Co, at a unit cost of ~6.25 per ton plus
to the stockpile site at the Highway Shop at Chimacum, and
~~EREAS, The Washington Asphalt Company has proposed to produce the required
asphalt materials and deliver said materials to the stockpile site at the Highway Shop
at Chimacum for the consideration of $5.75 per ton plus tax
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Jefferson County Commissioners hereby
authorize the Jefferson County Engineer to negotiate a contract with the Washington
Asphalt Company to produce and deliver approximately 1,000 tons of asphalt road patching
materials to the Highway Shop at Chimacum at a unit cost of $5.75 per ton plus tax.

Phil Copps of Puget Sound Power &. Light appeared to report Mr. Turner of Marrow-
stone Island had sibIled power easement for service to property ownors who had previously
peti tioned the Commiasicners for aid in acquiring easement. Pete Mi chelson, one of
the property owners also appeured to report power easement had been signed and request
the County uid in improving road.
