ThG regular meeting of the Board of Jefferson County Commiusioners was called
to order by Chairman George Huntingford with all members present.
~unutes through January 2nd were read and approved by motion of Lyall Arey
which was seconded by Walter Kelly.
Letter was read from lvIrs. James Jacobs of Port I\ngeles inquiring about the safe i!
from the Sheriff's old office. Clerk was instructed to write Mrs. Jacobs informing her!!
the safe is not for sale.
Arne and Frances Day appeared before the Commissioners requesting. acceptance
of their Shine Gri La Village plat. Mr. Day ask the Commissioners grace on oiling his
roads as required. Commissioners felt that the new platting regulations must be met i~
and the Days' request was denied. Arne Day will notify the Engineer when the, :requiremei1ts
are met and hearing d ate will be set. '
John Doubeck, the new Civil Defense Director, appeared to request the transfer
of the Civil Defense funds from the County Current Expense budget to a Revolving Fund.
The follovdng resolution was approved for transfer of the funds:

:ftIEREAS, Jefferson CGunty Resolution No.1, dated June 1, 1959, established,
under provisions of the Washington State Civil Defense Act of 1951, the Jefferson
County Civil Defense Council and the Jefferson County Civil Defense Fund, and,
. IVHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend's first contribution to above fund was
in 1967, consequently all monies prior to 1967 and including 1967 expended for Civil
Defense purposes, was from budgetary provisions in the County Current Expense Fund,
and,
\VHEREAS, future expenditures for Jefferson County Civil Defense will be drawn
on the Jefferson County Civil Defense Fund,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that $1,l56.30 remaining in the 1968 County Current
Expen~e Civil DHfense 3udget be transferred to the Jefferson County Civil Defense Fund
administered by the Jefferson County Treasurer.

George Nichols appeared regarding road(s) to his property at Lake Leland. He
requested the lower road be vacated,when the new road is dropped to his and the adjoining

Letter was read from the Olympic Health DEPT. advising tl'::l commissioners of
the poeili.ties that could be forseen as future public health problems - the availability
