The county road purpose herein described is HEREBY DECLARED to be a public necessity and
the County Road Engineer is hereby URDERED AND AUTHORIZED TO report and proceed bhereon
as by law provided.
BE I'f FURTHER RESOLVED t.hat this purpose be performed by day labor in a ccordance with
the Standard Road and BridgE! Specificutions of the Stateof Washington as adopted by this
Board.

Engineer Becker reported on his investisation on Trails End and reply to Chet
Gardiner, Cowlitz County Commissioner. NautilUS, Inc. (John Heiber) does own the
tidelands (Lhis had been previously disputed and clarified in court by former o'#Der)
Hqrdland Community Club representatives appeared with letter requesting road
improvements on Marrowstone Island. (Roy Nordby, Ralph B. Johnson, H, M. Ch&nning,
Lloyd Chi:mdler and Dave Thompson) Further investigation will be made.

County Agent und Agriculturist be made members of the Regional County Planning
Commission. (Ex-Officio members),
Courthouse iv.aintenance "'Tas discussed. The disclosure of the percarious condi tion
of the bell tower was pointed out to the commissioners. Mr. Daly, County Prosecutor,
suggested a bond issue on the ballot due to the frozen dollar amount on the current
expense fund. After a physical inspection by the Commissioners it was suggested the
Clocktower be closed to the public until further notice. i.ir. Daly will draw up the
Hesolution closing tne clocktower to the public until repairs can be made. Due to the
unknown cost factor involved 'there was discussion on the fev.sibility of' removing the
clock Lower as an €:comony. measure.
