The first Septe~b~r meeting of the Board of Jefferson County Commissioners
was called to order by Chairman George Huntingtord with all members present.

Mike Orth appeared requesting a dance permit for Hadlock House Inn. Commissioner::
Arey moved And Commissioner Kelly seconded motion to approve the issuance of an annual
dance permit to Hadlock House and to wish them well on their expansion.

Two letters were read from Mrs. Lena Fletcher of the Hoh area. One concerning
the county road to Oil city and the other expressing grave concern for the condemnation
proceeding Hy the Fede~al Gove~nment against 1,000 privately owned acres of land to be
incorporated with the Nation~l Park in the west end ot Jefferson County.
Letter from proparty owners next door to Carter property in Trails End Plat
regarding replacing rip rap and deterioration of County Road in front of their property.
s Liquor Applications were review9d for an H-license for Discovery Bay Lodge and
the transfer ox a C-D license from Joshua Nathan. and Weltha O. .Norris to the Little
Red Kettle.

Hearing for Cape George Village, Division No 7. Developers request That the
Commissioners deviate from County Platting regulations and make exception to all roads ,
in Division No.7. Howard Riddell appeared tor Cape George. Motion made by Commission~r
Kelly, seconded by Commissioner Arey to approve developers proceeding on plans to comply
with County regulations. Mr Riddell intimated that the problems at Cape George had
been satisfactorily settled. That Mr. Allan Tonnon, Acting administrator of the Real
Bstate Division and another man whose name he could not recall had visited the Colony
and Village on 5aturda~August 31st. The water supply had been calibrated and was
more than plentiful.
The Clarks from the ~~istling Oyster and the Yackulics from Valley Tavern again
appeared regarding coin-operated amusement machine licenses. Commissioners referred
them To Prosecuting Attorney Daly.
Bid opening was held at 11:00 a.m. for the North Leland Road project with the
following results:

Engineer Bec~er took tUe three low bids for review and award recommendation.
(Engineer's estimate for No. Leland Road was $59,500.00 plus engineering expenses)
Mr. Becker reported t~at Ralph Wells Construction was low and correctly bid. Lyall
Arey moved, Walter Kelly seconded motion to accept Ralph Wells Construction bid of
$47,476.40..... It was so awarded.
Lyall Arey moved and Walter Kelly seconded motion to give $150.00 on American
Legion request tor a needy veteran for $1,000.00. The Legion will be contacted to
resubmit their request.
Engineer Becker presented his recommended 1969 Road Construction Program and
County Road Fund Budget and Equipment Rental and Revolving Fund budget for the 1969
budget. Proliminary Current Expense Budge~ was presentodwith revisions on the
Memorial Field and Courthouse water utility budgGt due to tho raised wator r.ates in
Port Townsend. Commissioner Arey moved, second by Commissioner Kelly to accept the
preliminary budgots as presented and approvod.(preliminary approval only) Budgets
