Phil Copps introduced Bob Knapp, the new manager of Puget POW9r in Port Townsend~
to the Board of Commissioners.
Phil Copps resignation on the County Planning Commission was accepted with
regret.
RESOLUTION NO. 27-68

Upon the approval of the Engineer, Lyall Arey moved and Walter Kelly seconded
motion to accept bid of Howard Cooper for $21,736.00 including tax and excluding the
trade-in which will be kept for service in,the west-end.,~~y~QAP~A)
Letter read from Discovery Bay Lodge requesting permission to have a piano in
their cocktail lounge at.lodge. permission granted by motion of Commissioner Arey and
second of Commissioner Kelly. Clerk was instructed to write and advise the Washington
State Liquor Board of their action.
Bennett Gale, Supervisor of the Olympic National Park introcued Mr. Carlson of
his Department and Robert Luntey of San Francisco Division. Mr. Rutter, Regional
Director was unable to attBBd this a.m. but may be.here later in the day for the
public hearing in the court~oom. They explained to the Commissioners the areas
they wish to declare Wilderness areas. Mr. Kelly suggested that road be put theough
the Olympic National Park from Dosewal1ips to the Quinau1t area.
Resolutions were approved as follows:

Resolved: That the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners do hereby and
on this day, October 7, 1968, vote to cOiply with Public Law 88-352, Title VI, Civil
Rights Act of 1964, together with all the requirements imposed by or pursuant to the
regulation of the Department of Health, Education and Welfare (45-CFR, Part 80)
by filing with the ,state Superintendent of Public Instructions, Form .HEW-44l properly
