Preliminary notice of this trans~er o~ highway route was provided you on August 1, 1966.
Representatives of both the state Highway Department and Jef~erson County inspected the road s
section jointly on October 31, 1968, and agreed that the condition of the Highway is
satisfactory and conforms to acceptable standards.
All pertinent maps and documents on ~ile in HighwMy Department Headquarters will be
~orwarded to you at an early date.

Engineer Becker expressed disatisfaction of the work to be done by county for
the ~ee set by the State, including brush Clearing on roadside. Did 'not ~eel fee by
State was adequate.
Application from State Liquar Boar.d of Extension of Discovery Bay Lodge H-license
from January 1, 1969 to March 31, 1969 was read. There being no objections by Commissioners,
application will be filed.
Northwest Pacific Telephone Company submitted three ~equests for permits as
follows:
1. Buried cable on the south side o~ county road # 18 to provide
additional facilities to the Hadlock Housing project.
2. Buried cable along Gilman Road east o~ Oak Bay Road.
3. Buried cable on the south side o~county Road No. 18 to extend
service.
John Doubek, Civil De~ense Director appe~red with the Civil Defense progrees
report for the last six months work. Doubek v9rbally reported that Je~~erson County
has picked up three RADEF Monitors and trained an additional 314 persons in the mediaal
self help program. Also, mentioned the generator purchased for Civil Defense and
housed in the Court House basement is now in working order. The tbreejeeps purchased
from surplus for $200.00 (one ~or use and the other two ~or spare parts) will be used
by the Sheriff's Department for rescue work.
Motion made by Lyall Arey; seconded by Walter Kelly, that Paci~ic Northwest
Telephone Company be granted permits ~or work as submitted with the stipulation that
road shoulders be left in acceptable condition.
Commissioners adjourned for lunch.

Ralph Thoriault, Theriault Building Supply, introduced Leslie A. Fosmire and
Donald Byham from Pacific Commercial Carpet Corporation to demonstrate samples of indoor-
outdoor carpeting for. possiblo courthouse installation.
Mr. Baird, Vice-President of Pope ~nd Talbot Development Company appeared before
the Board r9garding the next division Pope and Talbot will be platting in Port Ludlow.
With an amendment to the prosent platting r0gulations, they would be able to have thoir
next division ready for approval by May 1, 1969. Revision was Agre~able with Engineer
and the Commissioners - *0 amend platting regulations to accept performanc4 bond for
projects OVQ~ $100,000.00 to enable Popo and Talbot to take advantage o~ tho selling
soa80n'and procede with road construction during seasonable weather. Engineor Becker
will rQvise platting regulations and I'end Pope and Talbot a copy of tho rovision, upon
commislI)ionolCo approvAl.
