Engineer Becker presented request from Pacific Northwest Telephone Company
place buried cable as follows:
Place buried cable (telephone cable) along the SW side of Swansonville
Road for approximately 1780 feet; thence crossing Swansonvllle Road; thence
along the Nsrtheasterly side ofSwansonville Road for approximately 1250
thence Easterly to Oak Bay Road; Also place buried ~elephone cable along the
east side of Oak Bay Roas for appriximately 2950 feet, All as shown on prints
submitted with request.

The request was granted on motion of Mr. Huntingford and second of Mr. O'Meara.
Mr. Huntingford .read letter he re~eived ~rom Dr. Harry Johnson of Tacoma and
Port Townsend regarding a used Otis eleuatorin a Tacoma Bank Bu~lding. The Commission-
0rs expressed interest in traveling to Tacoma and. viewing thepossibility'of'acquiring
it for the courthouse. Mr. Becker will make arrangements lor ,the trip over.
Being no further business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned in
regular form.

February 17, 1969
Meeting of the Honorable Board of Jefferson County Commissioners was called
to order in regular form with all members present.
Chairman Walter Kelly asked Mr. Beck~r tor-eport on his contact with the
elevator peoplaafter their trip to Tacoma. Engineer Becker reported 'he talked to
Western Elevator regarding installation of Otis Elevator. They reported that the
estimator, Lyall Silva, who Becker and the Commissioners met'with in-Tacoma, was ill. .
Silva had figured the elevator would probably cost around $5,000.00 plusthe'installation
cost of approximately $10,000.00. Silva had stated cabe price of a hydraulic elevator .,
would cost about the same installed as the used Otis installation would.

Mr. and Mrs. Brandt appeared requesting county help on their Paradise Bay Road.
Engineer Becker will investigate the situation on the road condition and determine is
county can help.
Aur~hur swanson came to talk to the commissioners to review the taxing levies
as the tax billings are going out and due to the higher assessments, people will be
as~g the commissioners pertinent questions regarding their levies.

Engineer gave revised estimate of $60,936.00 for the road construction prior
to bid opening. The following contractQrs submitted bids :

Attorney William J. Daly as well, due to the {act the bids all oame in so much highar
than the Enginoer's Gstimato.
Beoker later reported that the three low bids wore all in order but the law dOGQ
not allow bids to be Aooepted it higher thAn 10.; over the engineer's estimate. It was
moved by Huntingford And secondod by O'Meara to hold bids ~or reoommendation of Daly.
