~Ieeting called to order by Chairman Walt Kelly with Commissioner George Huntingford
present. (Commissioner O'Meara absent,)
Bid opening - Hurst Creek Bridge
George Huntingford mo,vcd and \~alt Kelly seconded, that Engineer check out three (3)
low bids on construction.

Dona~ F. Small, Brad Best Realty Inc. requesting meeting with County Commissioners
and I1ngineer. Clerk instructed to advise Mr. Small of next meeting date. Commission-
ors and Engineer will be available in the Commissioners room after lO:OOa.m.
Enginoer reported that bids were checked out and L. A. Bernardi Co. is low bidder with
addition correction of $7,667.00. Bid awarded by motion of George Huntingfard and
seconded by Walt Kelly. I

Mr. Becker instructed to call for bids.
Mr. George H. Rue, of Marrowstone Island appeared regarding developing small plat on
Island. Engineer recommended all lots face on Meade Road. Mr. Rue said he had a
well that would furnish plat. Hearing set up for December 15, 1969 at lO:OOa.m.
Ernest I. Hopp, District Supervisor Extension Agent, will appear this week regarding
appointment for Jefferson Co. Extension Agent to fill vacancy caused by sudden demise
of County Agent Lonnue McGrew. Ernest I. Hopp was appointed by motion of George
Huntingford and second or Walt Kelly. Sympathy expressed by the Commissioners to Mrs.
McGrew and Department of Agriculture for the loss of Lonnie McGrew.

Saturday hearing on ORDINANCE NO. l-69 and PROPOSED HEALTH i\EGULATION NO. I.
J"hn Che'~l;erl)l, Port Ludlow, appeared in objection to portion or ORDINANCE NO. I ;\.nd
proposed HEAL~H REGULATION NO. I in regard to disposal of waste water from kitchen
sink, bathtub, lavatory, shower and laundry. Mr. Chesterly felt only toilet waste
should go into septic tank system.

Don Morrison, Olympic Health District Sanitarian, said this is a similar Ordinance
and regulation ~hat has been adopted py other Counties in the State of WaShington.
Clal1am was next to last County to adopt regulation, and Jefferson is last County.
Mr. Morrison said he was surprised that more people were not here at meeting as he
had sent out nine (9) notices to installers and peop~e he considered interested
parties. Mr. Morrison asked that three (3) day inspection limit he changed to four
(4) working days. Daly also changed the penalty clause from ninty (90) to thirty (30)
days.
~Ir. Ernie Hopp asked for expressions or suggestions for operation of Extension Agents
Office, and asked if monies could be transferred into Capitol Outlay to purchase a
new slide projector for their programs, and if they could hire hourly help to assist
in 4-H Program f~orn Lonnie's salary. Mr. McGrew will be paid through Novemher plus
four (4) working days in December. Mr. Hopp assured Board that a permanent appoint-
ment would be made as soon as a suitable man is selected.

Mr. Morris Starrett appeared in behalf of the Port Townsend Chamber of Commerce re-
questing that tho Board of County Clmmissioners write Mr. Odegaard, Director of Parks
and Recreation, recommending that the name of Cyrus Walker, pioneer lumberman, ship
builder and operator for Pope and Talbot, be favorable conside..:ed for the future name
of the Wolfe property on Hood Canal. Req~ested that copy of letter be sent to
Chamber for their record~.
