Oppontunity', Project. Jeff. Co is requeoted to participate in the program at a coat of $2,000. Mr. Burke
explained that program was designed for college age students who have the desire to attend college, but
lack necessltory funds. Students are to be hired only on the bash of need. Four students from Jeffer130n Co.
will be hired as,follows: 1 from Chimacum, 1 from Quilcene, and Z from Port Townsend. Motion by Com-
missioner Huntingford, second by Commissioner Kelly to participate in program and funding. Motion un-
amious by Board, Program is to begin after June 14, 1971 for 10 week period.
Harry Holloway, Attny. for Jaycees, appeared re: Lease of V. F. W. Hall. Requests valid lease be given to
Jaycees with permission for Vets to use second floor. Stated both leases to Veta and Jaycees QJ;'e illegal
because lease and renewal were not advertised as perscribed by law. (Orlgillallease with Veterans advert-
ised, vut renewal was not.) Chairman O'Meara advised Holloway to have Jaycees draw up lease satiafact-
ory to the Board, Hearing set for June 14, 1911 at 10:00a. m.
Curtis Anderson and Jack Marlow appeared regarding the removal of trees on the Hadlock Park property.
They requested trees be cut down on a SOxlOOfoot stretch of park property to ellable the sun to come in on
their property. Motion by Commissioner Kelly to sdvertise pulp wood for bids. Motion withdrawn due to
reasoning that Co. can do work and h!lve wood for the Park. Chairman O'Meara advised them the Co. crew
will do the labor.

ing as written.
Commissl,onerG received proposal from .Jeff. Co. Sportsman Club to develop a shooting range in the Port .
Townsend area under 'the provisions of the Dingle-Hart Bill of 1970. Bill providea Federalll')onies ~o developi
multi-purpose ranges. Their main request from Co. is to make land availavle to sllpport the program. !:
O'Me,ara will check into best possible location for range.
Request from Port of Port Townsend to have Zoning Ordinance drawn up for tho Jeff. Co. .lnte,rnational
Airport. Copy of "Model Airport Zoning Ordinace" will be acquired from t~e Port office for assistance.
Letter from Division of Institutions concerning the anticipated amount of $5,380. available to the Co. in
support of community M'Ii &: MR programs during calendar year 1912.
Board received letter from Pros. Attny. Daly re: Brochure on Curthouse. Daly stated brochure concerning,
the Big Town Clock, prepared by Margaret Bishop and Jackie Heinbaugh should be reproduced at public
expense. Board concurs with Daly.

for Douglas Tate Brown, Irondale Grocery. Commissioners have no objections to the issuance of these
licenses.

Sheriff B,ob Hansen appeared as a courtsey to the Board rc: Actions by the Washing~ol1 State Patrol during th~ ,/
Rhododendron Festival. Sheriff Hansen stated the W,C;P informed him they would have /1 "lJhl::lw oC fOI'ce" onl~'
during the Festival. When he asked what was meant by a "show of force II he was informed they would drive
around this area so people would be aware of their prCllencCl. Hansen stated the Patrol actually made many
arrests Cor minor traffic violations, using shorguns and handcuffs to effect arres'i:o, Rnd deliberatllly har-
a4sed and prevented many persons, especially notorcyclelst!l, form con,ing into the County. DecaUSll ot
