business. License signed by Chairman O'Meara.
Letter form Democratic Central Committee submitting three manes to be considered by the Board, to replace
'Assessor, Jim Sofie for the remainder of his term. Anthorl}' Str.oeder, Mike Orth and Chested Strand.
Letter of request from Assessor, Jim Sofie, stating that in the light of the numerous tax appealo now pending,
he has reconsidered his intention of resigning. Asks that the Board give no consideration to hill pl'evlous letter
of resignation yntU fyrther notice.
,Motion by Commissioner HUllItingford, second by Commissioner Kelly to reject letter of resignation from Mr.
,Sofie; and accept request to continue in office. Unanimoua by Board.

'O'Meara advised that Cal McCune, Attny., may replace 'Mrs. Koschnick. on the Board.

:with Board concerning drainage near their property at Ludlow Beach. Letter will be held for further invest-

,Mr. Jerry Getz appeared re: Need of 200 wooden fence posts for Jefferson County Fair Grounds. Commiss-
'ioners advised him to check with Ed Becker, Engineer, for availability, and gave their permission for him
to have posts.
:Mr. Guy Rudolph appeared with plans for regulation size ba.seball diamond in Co. Park in Hadlock. Question
as to whether. park is large enough for regulation size baseball diamond or not, and if' location of well will inte!'~
fere with diamond. Engineer Becker advised park is large enough for Little League diamond without interference
,'of well. Four lots within boundaries of park are privately owned. Becker will try to make arrangements to
,either buy or trade other propperty for the four lots.
Motion by Commissioner Huntinford, second by Commissioner Kelly to .sign Call. for Bids for various sllzes and gages
of metal culvert pipe for Co. Highway Dept., for August 2nd. at 10:OOa. m.
Board received letter from Dept. of. Refenue re: 1971 Forest Land Values. Assassor, Jim Sofie advised that
all parcels of forest land in Jefferson County are listed the earne all 1970 asaessment roll.
Letter from Port Commission re: Reopening of channel between KilislJt and .Admiralty Inlet. Advises problem
should be handled at state level because of "statewide significance" and so extensive, it would be beyond
community's ability to participate.

estimate. The Assistant Director for Highway Development can awal'd such contracts upon l'ecelpt of a letter
signed by the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners.
