Mr. Norman Pol1ach, from Teamsters Local 589 appeared to represent the Deputies. Deputies Mike Thompson,. Rod Culp,' Clarence Booth and Earl Carter also appeared. . Mr. Pollach stated the men had asked to have dental coverage added to their insurance'plansiand.it is .the'respon sibiUty of the county to provide the added coverage. Deputy Thompson stated he was representing himself and others from The Dept. and they don't want anything to jepardise the hiring of more men. They are not concerned with a raise and would rather have money put toward salary for another man. Chairman O'Meara said this would incur more money for insurance, raise only amounts to $2, BOO, and dental coverage would add approXimately $130 a month ex~a" and this amount is not sufficient. Thompson said thay are in sore need of another man if possible. Commissioner Huntingford said dental coverage would have to be in lieu of raise because the added amount could not be put in the budget. Requests will be taken into consideration by the Board. . Motion by Commissioner Huntingford, second by Commissioner Kelly to approve minutes of Sept. 27th meeting as presented. Unanimous by Board. Letter of resignation from Neoma B. Shepherd, Commissioner, Position No.2, Water Di!Jt. No.1, effective Sept. 25, 1971. Motion by Commissioner Huntingford, second by Commissioner Kelly to accept resignation. Letter from Port Townsend Chamber of Commerce requesting views of the Board as to the possibility of Port of Port Townsend taking over the operation, ownership, ownerShip/lease back, subsidy, or any other alternative means of assuring continuation of service of the Olympic Ferries, between Port Townsend and Whidbey Island. No definite action by the Board at this time. I Board received letter from Dept. of Ecology requesting' "letter of,intent" on count~,ls partiCipation in Shoreline Management. Letter will be sent stating county has decided to complete an inventory and develop a master program. Mr. Ray Isle, County Extension Agent, appeared re: Equal Employmel1t Opportunity. Letter from the Board is requested stating they are complying with the Equal Employment Opportunity Program as stipulated in 7 CrR lB. ,Letter will be sent. Mr. Tom Fitzmorris appeared re: Proposed State Highway Projects from 1971-1973. Projects are on State Highway 101, as follows: Discovery Bay, RA & Viewpoint, right-of-way; Amanda Park to Clearwater Road, construction; and Queets to Hoh River, construction., Board will send letter stating proj(~cts are satisfactory. . Commissioners signed Bond and Contract with Tor-Nado Fence Co. Inc., to constr.uct chain link fence and metal gates at county shop in Hadlock. Mrs. Marge Johnson and Mr. Paul Miller appeared with request f.or $2,000 annually for Information and Referral Center for Alchol1sm. Stated we are now in conjuntion with Clallam County, but are not realizing .the necessary benefits from this arrangeme'nt. Said State would reimburse or pay four to one, plus salary of director, if county can see fit to funding an office and phone. Auditor Betty Temple, advised that she had talked with Bob Goehring, Chairman, MH & MR Board I and he is very much in favor of a center for alchol1sm because their Board cannot cope with this problem. Motion by Commissioner Huntingford to declare $500 emergency fund to supply office and phone for Information and Referral Center for Alcholism. Seconded by Chairman O'Meara. Resolution will be drawn up and notice published of date .for public hearing. Hearing to be held on October 18th, at 10:00 a.m. I Notice from Stato Liquor Board of applif::ation fot' Class H license from Randolph Holland Barrett, Discovery Bay Lodge. No objections by Board. I Public Notice No. NPS-71-36B, Corps of Engineers, ro: Recreation and Boat Moorage for Bridgehaven.. No comment by Board at this time. Board received 1971 Indicated Ratios and the Property Tax Rollbaok from the Dept. of Revenue; and Minutes of Intermediate School Dist. 114 meeting of Sept. 9th, without comment.
