Bill Stratton appeared aginst the removal of logs around the Quilcene Youth Center. Logs were placed there to prevent cars and motorcycles from racing around the building. Board advised that logs will not be removed. Mr. Guy Roudolph appeared regardJnq proposed ball park at County Park in Irondale. Mr. Jack W. Maher, P.rea Manager, Pope & Talbot Development, Inc. appeared re: Application for Shoreline Management Substantial Development Permit for Port Ludlow Condominium Project. Presented copies of application to Board and original to ill3Cretary. Referred to Jeff. Co. Shoreland Advisory Commission for inspection and advisement, Motion by Commissioner Kelly, secon.d by Commissioner Huntingford to form a Public Works Dept. for Jefferson County, to be headed by Ed BeckaI'. Resolution w1l1 be drawn up by Engineer Becker. Board received the following without comment: Letter from Parks & Recreation Commission stating action on Seal Rock Boat Launch had been tabled. Copy of letter to Paul Connor from Albert C. Bise, relating to the n.eed for another Superior Court Judge in ClaHam-Jefferson Judicial D!.strict. Paper from State Auditor on uniform account.\n9 system for county roads and streets. Dept. of Revenue l'e: Attorney General's Opinion on County Boards of Equalization; Property taxes; and Revenue Sharing. Bid Opening for the improvement of 0.25 mile of t'he Quilcene -Center Road, Co. Rd. No. 18. 1. McClanahan Const. $ 7,245.00 2 . Valley Cement $7,935.00 3. j.P. Surace $7,475.00 4. Winterburn Const. $9,890.00 Engineer's Estimate $7,245.00 Motion by Commissioner Kelly, second by Commissioner Huntingford for Engineer Becker to check out two low bids. After checking, Becker advised bids wer,e correct as presented ,and recommended McClanahan Construction be awarded the :':'id. Motion by Commissioner Huntingford, second by Commissioner Kelly to award bid to McClanahan Const. Co. Bert Hill, owner of Fran's Kitchen, appeared re: Construction of Trailer Court at Four Corners. Ask Board if county had any restrictions on the building of a trailor court. Board advised only restrictions were to meet all sanitary regulatl,ons by the Health Dept. Engineer Becker discussed the hiring of a man for Parks Maintenance pOSition through the ESP Program. Motion by Commissioner Huntingford to appoint Howard Bill for the position. Motion by Chairman O'Meara to appoint Richard Slator due to his being older and more ex.perienced. Commissioner Kelly stated a man should be hired from the county rather than the city. Mr. Slator stated Mr. Bill probably had more experience in carpentry and withdrew his application. Commissioner Kelly second motion of Commissioner Huntingford.
