William Daly appeared re: Addition of a Superior Court Judge for Clallam-Jefferson Judicial Dist. Judge Johnson advised he would not make recommendation for another Judge until he was so advised by the Boards of Commissioners of both counties. This Board concurs that work load of both counties necessitates the acquiring of another Judge. Engineer Becker stated there is timber on the Dosewa1l1ps that needs to be romoved. Amount for timber would only be approximately $100. Motion by Commissioner Kelly that due to small amount of timber and low in value, I that timber be sold without a call for bids. Stumpage cost set at 25% of sa Ie. Engineer Becker advised the Board that Jefferson County had received a Federal Grant for Solid Waste amounting to $ 7,328.70. Board appointed a seven member Advisory Committee, as follows: A. M. 0' Meara, George Huntingford, Walter A. Kelly, Glen Bagley, Randall Mr. Durant, Gerald Thompson and John J. Perkins. Board received questionnaire from State FilElMarshal re: County Building Code. Notice will be sent that county does not have a building code. Letter and copy of resolution from Clallam Co. re: Clallam- Jefferson Juvenile Court District. Resolution will be drawn up whereas one member of each Board of Commissioners will meet annually to review the preliminary juvenile court budget prior to adoption. Request from Dept. of Natural Resources for county to display poster of aerial photography of portion of Jefferson County. Answer will be sent that Board is willing to display poster in the courthouse. Board reviewed the follOWing without comment: Notice from Dept. of Social & Health Services stating Mental Retardation program will not be funded unless approved budgets are filed by Dec. 8th. Letters from Governor Evans and Rep. Paul Connor stating their support for a new ambulance for the Brinnon area. Olympic Air Pol'lution Control Authority Activity Report for November, 197i. There being no further business before the Board. the meeting was adjourned. Letter sent to Kramer, Chin & Mayo, Ocean Systems, stating hearing date for Shore land Management will be Jan. 10th at 10:00 a.m. #n##########n# December 20, 1971 10:00 a.m. Meeting called to ordar by Chi'\Irman A. M. O'Meara with all members present. Robert M. Hays, Chairman, Jefferson County Shoreland Advisory Commission, appeared to report of meeting of Shoreline Management meeting in Lacy on Dec. 15th. Said it was stated at the meeting that full authority lies with the Board of Commissioners for approval or disapproval of any permit and county will receive from $6,000 to $8,000 grant for funding program. Meeting attended also by Ch1irman O'Meara, Ed Richey & I.C. Brown. Reported that a tugboat company has objected to Ocean Systems proposed fish rearing pens in the water west of Indian Island. Proposed area now is in the Hadlock-Irondale area. Stated also that their commission had inspected the Port Ludlow condominium site and will be Sending a report to the Board. Auditor Betty Temple, advised Board that she has requested budgets from other comparable counties and is making a chart of different departments for Boards review and information. Letter from Dapt. of Social and Health Services re: Clallam-Jefferson Committee on Alcoholism. Jefferson County has formed their own council due to lack of assistance and co-operatIon from Clallam Co. Meeting will be held on January 3rd with Clallam Co. and Jefferson Co. Councils'. Resolution will be drawn up for possible resolving of Clallam-Jefferson Council on Alcoholism. Motion by Commissioner Huntingford to accept minutes of December 13th meeting. Second by Commissioner Kelly. Unanimous. Letter from Sierra Association, Inc. concerning recently established county right-of-way. Stated they do not intend to bring road up to county specifications at this time, and requested copy of required specifications. Engineer Becker will answer letter. Board received notice frc)m Assistant Secretary for Economic Development that Jefferson County has been designated as a redevelopment area. Board reviewed copy of revIsed Mental Health & Mental Retardation Budget for Jefferson County for 1972. Bill Straton appeared to request repair of hi!! front and side lawn due to damage caused by county grader. Commissioner Kelly will inspect property. Norman Pollock, Teamsters Local 589, appeared re: Contracts for County Road and Sheriff's Departme,nts.
