a condition of employment on and after the 31st clay following the beginning of their employment or on and

after the 31st day following the effective date of this agreement, whichever is the latar. It is agreed that the
Union will accept them at the prevailing initiation fee, provided their union record is clear. Nothing in this
paragraph shall be construed to prevent the Employer from hiring residents of Jefferson County for periods not
to exceed ninety (90) days without conforming to the requirements set forth or to compel said residents to

join the Union during said period of employment.
2. The Employer hereby reserves the right, subject to the exclusive discretion of the Employer, to
discharge any man in his employ if his work is not satisfactory. Reason for discharge shall be furnished in
writing.

3. No workman shall be discharged or discriminated against for upholding Union principles; and any
man who works under the instructions of the Union, or who serves on a committee, shall not lose his pOSition
or be discriminated against for this reason.
4. It is understood that none of the present employees shall suffer any reduction in pay rate by this
agreement, nor shall their hours be increased without a corresponding increase in pay.

SICK LEAVE:
5. All steady employees shall be eligible to one days sick leave per month, s"Jch sick leave may
be accumulated for not more than two hundred and forty days. To receive sick leave, an employee must
actually be sick and furnish satisfactory proof of same. If an employee falsifies his being sick, he may
immediately be dischargad.
6. Should any controversy arise between the parties not provided in th€'ise articles, or any mis-

understanding as to the true interpretation of this agreement, it shall be submitted to a board of three for
arbitration: one to be selected by the Union, one by the Employer and the third a disinterested party sell3cted
by the first two. Such board shall be appointed within ten days thereafter. During such time as the matter
is pending before the arbitration board, there shall be no lockout or strike. The decis ion of the majority
of the arbitration board is to be final.
HOURS OF WORK:

7. Eight hours E;hall constitute a days work and forty hours a weeks work. All time worked in
excess of eight (8) hours per day or in excess of forty (40) hours per week shall be overtime and paid for
at the rate of time and one-half.
