10:00 a.m. Meeting called to order by Chairman Walter A. Kelly with all members present.

Hearing continued for Shoreline Management Application No. 39, DeLeo Brothers. Action detained until Board
receives letter from the Advisory Commission.
Motion by Commissioner 0' Meara, second by Commissioner Brown to approve minutes of last meeting.
Auditor Betty J. Temple presented and explained the insurance packet from Homer S. Smith Agency. Advised
there will be 1/2 million dollars more coverage for the cost of $6,199 for County Roads and $5,801 for Current
Expense. Upon examination of said policy, motion by Commissioner 0' Meara, second by Commissioner Brown
to approve and accept. Unanimous. Effective date of policy is March 27, 1973 to March 27, 1974.
Letter of appreciation from Superintendent of School Dist. #50 for County's assistance in construction of the
tract at Port Townsend High School.

Request for variance from Shoreline Management Act, from Pope & Talbot, Inc., to bury water lines from Ludlow
Creek to their proposed golf course. (Approximately 100' or less within Shorelines jurisdiction) Request for
recommendation will be asked of the Advisory Commission and the Dept. of Ecology.
Letter from Sigvard Hall requesting permission to purchase portion of Turner Street from the county. Portion is
not being used by the county at the present time. Engineer Becker advises that property should not be sold due
to future road construction. Board will inspect at lunch time today.

Board roce!ved copy of letter to the U. S. Forest Service from Chairman of the Planning Commission, re:
Proposed Wilderness Areas in the Olympic National Park. States they are in opposition to said classification of
areas In QuilceM, Mildred Lakes and Brothers due to: (1) 75% of the county now being in publicland with more
than half in the Olympic National Park, which is roadless. mostly trailless and produces no revenue; (2) adding
more lands to the wildorness category in the county wUl seriously affect our already depressed economy; and
i (3) the scenic values of the Olympic Peninsula should be made more available to the public with roads and trail
syatem. Board concurs.
Roger French, Chairman Pro Tern I Shoreline Advisory Commission, appeared to present letter recommending
approval for Applic8tion No. 39, DeLeo Brothers. Motion by Commissioner 0' Meara, second by Commissioner
Brown to approvo. Unanimous.

Engineer Becker prellontad three County Road Projeots for Board's approval and signing as follows:
Resolution No. 13-73, C.R.P. No. 359, to replace bridge on Upper Hoh Road No. 216;
Resolution No. 14-73, C,R"P. No. 360, to replace bridge on Quinault River Rc,ad No. 202;
Resolution No. 15-73, C .R.P. No. 361, to replace three oulverts on the Upper Hoh Road No. 216
and tho Quinault River Road No. 202.
Motion by Commissioner Brown, seoond by Commissioner 0' Meara to approve and sign all three
ren()Jutiorl'l. Unanimous.
