Messer requesting that his property be classified as Forest Land as provided by Chapter 294, Laws of 1971, 1st. Ex. Bess., (Open Space Land Classification). Assesoor Hansen stated his application for designation has been denied for 1972 & 1973, due to the acreage being in three parcels and therfore not meet- ing the required twenty acres in any of the thre,'.l. Col. Messer's property is on the waterfront and on the tolls at $75.00 a front foot. He also has two improvements on the 25.26 acres, his home and a rental. It was explained that bis timber is on the back of his property and if it were placed in open space, he would still be assessed for the same amount of the waterfront, plus an assessment on the timber, which would raise his amount of taxes to be paid on the property. The contiguous property., owned by Mr. Dent is taxed the same $75 per front foot on the waterfront. Letter of explanation will be written to Col. Messer. Whereas, said AI1reement was previously approved by this Board, Chairman Kelly was unanimously authorized to execute the Law Enforcement Mutual Aid Agreement, subject to approval by the Pr':lsecuting Attorneys' Office. Engineer Becker read the specifications presented for the re-w1ring of the courthouse. It waD unanimously de- cided by the Board to call for bids to have the entire Job done at one time rather than breaking it down into four, as was suggested. Becker will present the bid call for approval and Signing at next Monday's meeting. I Mr. Hanford Choate,Developer,Pleasant Tides, appeared re: Road competion within the plat. Jefferson County holds the bond with United Pacific Insurance Company. assuring that Leisure Development Company and Edwin P. MUler wUl complete the surfacing of ronds and streets in this plat. The Board has no assurance that work wUl be accomplished. Prosclcuting Attorney Daley was requested to write to the bonding company adviSing that he has been instructed by the Board to beo!n a suit on the bond to compel porformance. Board received letter from the Department of Ecology in answer to their request for additional funding to cover higher printing costs incurred in produoinq the Co. SoUd Wl!ste Management Plan. 'They stated there are no monies available to incur anI' additional expenses. . Sheriff HansE'ln requested permission to hire a Police Stenographer for his office through EEA.
