Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. Hello, The Department of Natural Resources is developing a Target Shooting Program to mitigate public safety, litter, and environmental concerns on our managed lands. A component of this program will be the construction of two “pilot” shooting ranges on DNR land. The intention of this program is to encourage recreational shooting at safe sites with mitigation measures for environmental contaminates in place, while discouraging target shooting in areas that have been subject to misuse or abuse. One range is designated to be constructed in eastern WA, and one on the Olympic Peninsula. I’ve been made aware that East Jefferson County may have ordinances in place that could influence the site selection process for the Olympic Peninsula range. If this is true, could you please provide me with any further information? I’ll be meeting with Regional DNR staff on 1/8 to discuss the Olympic Peninsula range and hope to be able to bring them relevant information on this subject at that time. Many thanks, and please let me know if have any questions about this program.
