SUBJECT: Refining Jefferson County's Legislative Priorities
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
On October 21, 2024 the Board of County Commissioners held a workshop to discuss our 2025 legislative
and funding priorities with Stephanie Wright, of WA S360, our lobbyist. The Board has refined its list of
legislative priorities and will conduct another workshop with Ms. Wright on Monday, December 23`d to
discuss the refined list.
ANALYSIS:
This will be Commissioner Kate Dean's last Board of Commissioners meeting and the Board will
benefit from her insights as they develop the County's final list of legislative priorities.
Commissioner Heidi Eisenhour will represent the County as part of the Washington State
Association of Counties Legislative Steering Committee in 2025. This workshop will establish the
final list of priorities.
In addition,two emergent issues will be discussed:
• Imminent failure danger: Upper Hoh Road at milepost 9.7
• Potential federal government shutdown
FISCAL IMPACT:
The County pays S360 a monthly amount to provide lobbying services.
RECOMMENDATION:
Participate in a workshop to further refine its legislative agenda for 2025.
