Photographs and measurements were taken for our file and record. The lot is located on the East side of Tala Shore Drive. The driveway slopes down to the East at about 10 to 12 degrees as measured in the field by a "Brunton Pocket Transit." The area of the house site slopes down to the East at 5 to 7 degrees. East of the house site the shore slopes at 80 degrees down to the shore. The areas around the,'driveway midi house site are vegetated!-by grass and small trees. The steep slope to the shore is vevetated by connifers and a brushy understory of plants. This vegetation indicates that the slope has good stability. The soil consists of a glacial till. There is a layer of about 6 inches of humous topsoil. Underneath the humous soil is a fine silty sand. The present set-back of the home site is 40 feet. This set-back is adequate, but it should not be reduced by any future development or modifications. Vegetation should also be maintained. Visual inspection of the slopes in the field revealed that they are stable, although the shoreline area is listed as URS(Unstable Old Slide) and URS(Unstable Recent Slide) by the Washington Coastal Zone Atlas. In my professional opinion, there is a minimal geo-technical hazard with the proposed set-back of 40 feet. The proposed home site will not be subject to much risk. The proposal will not increase surface water discharge or sedimentation to adjacent properties beyond predevelopment conditions, and will not decrease slope stability on adjacent properties. The site will be normal under normal geologic conditions. Yours truly, c:)). ) C ; Q/ 61W R.t. Bough .E. David Hurum I' Geo-technica Engineer Member of Geological Soci f t1i3. L .
