The 2025 Legislative Session Begins January 13!
As this year's 105-day legislative session begins on January 13th, the Washington State Association of Counties (WSAC) will begin hosting Legislative Steering Committee (LSC) <https://members.wsac.or

FGmBMitLfbuSp> hybrid meetings every other Thursday. A session prep meeting will kick things off on January 9th, and the first official LSC meeting will be held on January 23rd (with
a roundtable discussion the night before).
On opposite Fridays, WSAC will begin publishing a podcast, bringing you updates on county-related policy and legislative priorities as they happen. Look for more information on the podcast
in the upcoming weeks!

can impact productivity, relationships, and the work environment. Conflict resolution tools and strategies promote reconciliation between individuals and teams, rather than reinforcing
divisions.

As a reminder, elected officials who leave office in 2024 will still need to file an F-1 for the portion of 2024 that they remained in office. Officials who left office in 2024 may be

New Minimum Wage & More Washington Laws Going Into Effect in 2025
The state is raising its minimum wage to $16.66 an hour in 2025, a 38-cent increase from 2024 ($16.28 per hour), due to increased housing and food costs as calculated by the state Department
of Labor & Industries.

Department of Transportation Announces $27 Million in Technical Assistance for Rural and Tribal Communities
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT’s) Build America Bureau (Bureau) released a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the Rural and Tribal Assistance Pilot Program, created
by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The NOFO offers $27 million in technical assistance grants to rural and tribal communities for the planning and design phase development of transportation
projects. There is no local funding match required to participate in this program. The Bureau designated up to $10 million for Tribal applicants.
Grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible applicants with an eligible project who meet the merit criteria described in the Notice of Funding Opportunity. The
