Hello Heather, Heidi and Greg:
The JeffCo Aquatic Coalition (JAC) is pleased to partner with Jefferson County to launch what will be the first public opinion survey across the entire county related to the building
a new aquatic center. We are excited to learn more about the priorities of our fellow citizens.
JAC’s survey team received valuable feedback from many reviewers (including yourselves) and we are confident that we will gain actionable information from tabulation of the survey to
inform the work of a PFD. While the focus of the survey is aquatic, we also ask about non-aquatic amenities which may possibly be co-located at the new facility. We expect the answers
to those questions to yield valuable information about the demand for various non-aquatic programs in Jefferson County. We hope that information will be useful to the county for overall
planning and policy formation purposes.
JAC has shouldered the costs of providing the technology platform to support the online survey. Our survey team consists of individuals who have professional backgrounds in the design,
deployment and interpretation of public opinion studies.
Attached please find a PDF which is an outline of the county-wide survey proposed to be circulated beginning February 1, 2025. You will also find a PDF generated by Jefferson PUD #1
with a proposed lay-out for a “rack card” to be inserted into their February billing cycle newsletter which is mailed to 13,000 PUD customers. Finalization of that card is forthcoming
within the next few days and will be sent to you. On behalf of JAC, I urge you to approve funds to print the survey “rack card” to be inserted into the PUD mailing. This is a very
cost-effective means of reaching a large number of Jefferson County residents.
Survey takers will access the survey through a QR code. The survey will also be available via a weblink. Beginning in February, JAC has planned outreach to various county organizations
and businesses to raise awareness of the survey and the City of Port Townsend has also offered to help get the word out.
You will note that the survey now opens with a question as to whether the respondent lives in Jefferson County. If the individual answers yes, the resident survey will proceed as outlined
in the attached document. If the respondent answers no, the survey will fork to a different set of questions geared to non-residents to gauge visitor and tourist interest in utilizing
the features of a new aquatic recreation center located in mid-county. Those survey questions are under construction and will be presented to you for review prior to January 21.
I will plan on attending Monday, January 13th BOCC meeting and will be available to answer questions in person.
Thank you,
Diane
