Jon Cooke called the meeting to order at 3:02 pm.
Agenda adopted (2:25)
Moved by Karin, seconded by Bob, and carried all in favor: to adopt the agenda with no changes.
Minutes approved (2:45)
Moved by Susie, seconded by Karin, and carried all in favor: to accept meeting minutes from June 6,
2024.
Public Comment (3:30)
Mitch Rabenold: Requested Riverside Park in Quilcene be maintained and revitalized. It was mentioned
the park could be a fire danger to the surrounding properties.
The Board reviewed the maintenance history and possible maintenance options.
OPEN FORUM FOR BOARD MEMBERS (9:30)
The board discussed the interest in Chimacum Park as a prospective location for a new aquatic center. It
was determined it isn’t Chimacum Park, but an adjacent property that is being looked at. The board
would like to do a review of the potential aquatic park plans and how it may affect Chimacum Park at
the next JCPRAB meeting.
NEW BUSINESS (15:13)
Olympic Discovery Trail Presentation by project manager, John Fleming
John presented a map of the current and planned ODT. Discussion was had about trail connections,
timelines, and trail surfacing.
Gibbs Lake Park Planning Review (58:11)
Matt presented the history of Gibbs Lake Park and reviewed the vacation of the end portion of Beausite
Lake Rd. Matt said that the Collector Trail could be converted from bike only to bicycling and hiking only.
Horses would not be allowed because the trail is not wide enough for horses to pass safely.
The board discussed new trail opportunities.

Chimacum Park

(1:26:56) Volunteering/Outreach Update–
Matt will send out a poll for date – including Sept.
OLD BUSINESS (17:26)

MANAGER’S REPORT (1:30:57)
Follow up from June meeting:
• Isthmus Beach to bridge trail
o Volunteer will clear out the trail
• Chimacum Park sub-committee meeting with Commissioner Eisenhour (1:31:34)
o Meeting no long required.
• Near misses at Irondale Road from blocked off pedestrian path (1:32:09)
o Matt requested Roads crew review the spot for safety- specifically reviewing the barrier.
• Irondale Beach Park (1:34:22)
o Matt reviewed overgrowth, but professional maintenance isn’t possible at this time.
o Matt reached out to JCSO regarding night traffic. They agreed to provide extra patrols in
the area.
