It's hard to stomach the scale of devastation in Los Angeles. More high winds are expected today.
While the death toll rises, Republicans are getting ready to gut the clean energy programs intended to fight climate change so that corporations can make more profit. This is unconscionable.

Climate change is razing communities in Los Angeles to the ground. 24 lives have already been lost. Thousands of people have had their homes and businesses destroyed, and even more are
suffering through choking smoke, wracked with fear for loved ones while living through apocalyptic conditions.
This is a heartbreaking reminder of the urgency of our situation. These unnatural disasters are a direct result of climate change, and our communities will continue to be vulnerable
to this kind of devastation unless we change course.
The Biden Administration invested billions of dollars in clean energy and climate action in the last few years. These programs are reducing emissions and creating good jobs, while saving
everyday people money on energy costs.
But what do Trump and Republicans in Congress want to do? Slash these programs to pay for tax cuts for billionaires and big corporations. We can't let that happen.

* Oil and gas CEOs have known about climate change for decades. They poured millions of dollars into deceiving the public and buying out politicians to block action on climate, so they
could continue raking in huge profits.
* It's not too late. We are not powerless. Every tenth of a degree of warming we avoid will make an enormous difference in what our future looks like. We need to do everything we can
to hold corporate polluters accountable and speed up the transition towards clean energy.
