WORKSHOP re Sustainable Forestry Program
JEFFERSON COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WORKSHOP AGENDA REQUEST TO: Board of County Commissioners FROM: Mark McCauley, County Administrator DATE: January 21, 2025 RE: Workshop: Jefferson County Sustainable Forestry Program STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Jefferson County contracted with Chickadee Forestry in January 2019 to assess Jefferson County's forest resources and determine whether the county could establish and maintain a revenue producing, profitable and sustainable forestry program. Six years later we are one year into a five-year contract with Chickadee Forestry to manage our sustainable forestry program. ANALYSIS: Malloree Weinheimer, Chickadee Forestry Principal, will conduct a workshop on the forestry program with a review of 2024 and a look ahead at 2025. Her presentation is attached. FISCAL IMPACT: None. RECOMMENDATION: Listen to the presentation and ask questions, as appropriate.
