To assure this compliance, the Contractor shall submit samples of all aggregate sizes of the final mix, in their proposed proportions, including blending sand, for approval of the Engineer prior to proceeding with the stock- piling. All aggregates necessary to produce an acceptable final mix. including blending sand, shall be stockpiled concurrently. Acceptance of the aggregate shall be based on samples taken from the final mix. The Contractor shall conduct his plant operations so that the final mix shall conform to the grading (including sand/silt ratios for Class B and Class G) and asphalt requirements as listed under Section 9-03.8(6) of the Standard Specifications for the class of mix specified, The ini- tial asphalt content requirement shall be determined by the Engineer for tests on samples of the aggregste as atockpiled. Blending Sand The first paragraph of Section 9-03.8(4) of the Standard Specifications is revised to resd: In the production of mineral aggregate for asphalt concrete, there is often a deficiency of nk1terial passing the U.S. No. 40 sieve. When this occurs, blending snnd in an amount specified by the Engineer may be used to make up this deficiency provided, however, that a satisfactory final mix shall be produced, including pertinent fracture requirements. No toe trench effluent Shall be discharged directly into the stream. All bank protpction material shall consist of clean rock. No equipment shall operate within the high water zone of the stream except for the purpose of toe excavation. No earthen material shall be utilized for the purpose of isolatin~ the stream from the excavation actiVity unless retained within sand bags. No concrete products or other deleterious materials shall enter the stream as a result of this project.
