SECTION 1-05, CONTROL OF WORK (Sept. 4, 1979)
Construction Stakes
The second paragraph of section 1-05.5 of the standard specifications
is revised to 'read:
When an automatically controlled machine is required or used to
trim the subgrade using 'reference lines, the Engineer sha~l set
control stakes for line and grade one time only after grading has
been completed. If the Engineer determines, that, extraordinary
pavement vidths or other circumstances require additional control,
he may provide additional control stakes without penalty to the,
Contractor. The Contractor shall set the reference lines for
trimming the subgrade and surfacing and controlling the paving
machine from these control stakes.' .
The 5th paragraph of section 1-05.5 of the standard specifications is
revised to read:
The Contractor shall keep the Engineer informed of his staking
requirements far enough in advance of the time vhen the stakes
viII be required to provide a reasonable amount of time for the
Engineer to set the stakes. Requests for stakes shall be at least
three vorking days prior to the need to cOlllmencestaking
operations.
The 8th paragraph of section 1-05.6 of the standard specifications ~s
deleted.
The 2nd paragraph of section 1-05.14 of the standard specifica~ons is
revised to read:
When the contract gives notice of vork by others that'.ay affect
the vork of this contract, the coordination of the, work shall be
taken into account by the Contractor and the resulting costs shall
be considered as included in the contract items~

under the contract because of any change in laws, ordinances or
regulations, except as specifically provided by the following:

Subparagraph (a) under the fourth paragraph of section 1-07.23 (5) of
the standard specifications is revised to read:
(a) The. entir. ccnstruction area under contract and for a
distance of 500 feet outside the beginning and end of
con~truction; except that if the project consists of two or
more sections, the limits will apply to each section
individually.
The first sentence of the sixth paragraph of section 1-07.23(5) of the

Re.imbursement for labor for traffic control costs -incurred in (a),
(b), and (c) above shall be made to the Contractor by the State at

Constrnction stakes
The second paragraph o~ section 1-05.5 of the standard specifications

Ilhen an automatically controiled machine is reguired or used to
trim the s~bgrade using.reference lines, the Engineer sha~l set
control stakes for line and grade one time only after grading has
been complE!ted. If the Engineer deterlllines. that. . extraordinary
paveaent widths or other circumstances require additional control,
he may provide additional control stakes without penalty to the.
