Dear Mr. Carlson:
' As indicated by conversations with Mr. Bruce Laurie of this office, Jefferson County'
would like to enter into an agreement to purchase three thousand cubic yards (truck
measure); of crushed one and one-quarter inch to minus material in the Winfield Pit.
It is the county's understanding that the added quantity could be handled by a con-
tract'change order, after the award of the contract, and that the price to the county
would be the contract unit price for crushing, a percentage of the mobilization based
on the amount of material crushed, and the price for the pre-processed material (pit `
'run gravel):

The county would be responsible to negotiate a price with the contractor for hauling "
the crushed material from the North Winfield Pit to the county's area in the South
Winfield Pita
Please notify the-county of the .bid prices received prior to initiating a contract
change order for this work. This will facilitate our ability to coordinate and ne-
gotiate for hauling with the contractor.

around the imn>ediate stockpile area. .Any materials ].eft after
p'~ the expiration of the 5 year Use and Occupancy Agreement will tip`
become the property of the State.' The cost to Jefferson Crnmty f'

that area.:Jefferson County would like toparticipate in yourproposed plan
to do 'crushing in your Winfield Pit. Specifically, Jefferson County would like
to havethe following:
1).4,000 cu.yd. - 5/8"-0.- crushed maintenance rock
2) 3,500 cu. yd. - 5/8"-1/4" -crushed chip seal rock
3)5 year agreement to lease a 200'x300' stockpile area in the Winfield Pit.
..Jefferson County..would fence and gate the .stockpile area. The cost of findingan
equallygoodarea£orstorage, extra cost of handling the material twice andlosses
dueto handling make storage~in the Winfield Pit the best arrangement.
This letter indicates the County's intent and would be followed by a formal agree-
ment when costs and other details are completed.
