The most dangerous thing we can imagine is for our movement to stop speaking up. To retreat into inaction, give into feeling overwhelmed, and believe the lie that everyday people can't
do anything to make change.

Already, the cracks in Trump's administration are showing. Republicans in the House have the slimmest majority – meaning that they will need every last vote to advance their pro-fossil
fuel agenda. We have a real shot at peeling off some Republicans who have seen the benefits of climate action, clean energy, and environmental protection in their home districts. Clean
energy is popular across blue and red states – it's reducing climate pollution and creating good jobs, while saving everyday people money on energy costs.
If our Members of Congress hear from enough of their constituents that we want them to preserve climate and clean energy programs, we can do our part to stopping drastic cuts to programs
our people and communities rely on. We're going to spend the next few months putting as much pressure on them as we can by calling their offices, posting on their social media pages,
getting the media involved, and more.

Everyday people joining together to demand change has always been how progress happens. And together, we've accomplished a lot. In the last month before President Biden left office,
we successfully pushed his administration to declare two new national monuments in California, finalize studies of methane gas exports (LNG), block offshore drilling, protect grizzly
bears, improve outdoor equity, and more.
At the national level, progress on climate is clearly not looking good. We're up against rising authoritarianism and an administration beholden to corporate polluters who are padding
their pockets while we pay the price. But despair isn't an option, because the stakes are too high.
The only way to stop climate disasters from getting stronger and more deadly each year is by working together through individual, collective, corporate, and government action. The best
antidote to despair is action, and the time to act is now.
The Sierra Club can do this work in every U.S. state and Puerto Rico thanks to advocates like you John. Even if you only have one hour free to get involved, we'll help you take actions
that are critical to making real change.
During our hour together, you'll learn more about the moment we're in, what actions we'll be taking to protect clean energy and climate action, and why those actions are essential to
building a livable future. Together we'll do things like call our federal representatives, comment on social media or a news article, write a letter to the editor, practice storytelling,
and more.
