BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
REGULAR AGENDA REQUEST
TO: Board of County Commissioners
FROM: Mark McCauley, County Administrator
DATE: January 27, 2025
RE: DISCUSSION and POTENTIAL ACTION re: Request for Jefferson County to act as Fiscal
Sponsor for a Federal Grant
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
Jamie Maciejewski, Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity of East Jefferson County has asked
if Jefferson County would agree to serve as fiscal sponsor for a federal grant to help finance
infrastructure development at the Mason Street affordable housing site.
ANALYSIS:
Ms. Maciejewski indicates that the Congress may be more likely to approve such a grant
request if a local jurisdiction agrees to serve as fiscal sponsor. If the county agrees to do this is
would be much like what the county did in partnership with the YMCA for the Early
Learning/Childcare Center to be located adjacent to Port Townsend High School.
Staff has agreed with this in principle and has the bandwidth available to take on the
responsibilities associated with serving in the fiscal sponsor role for the Mason Street grant.
Ms. Maciejewski will discuss the grant opportunity with the Board and will ask for the Board to
agree to serve as the fiscal sponsor.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners participate in the discussion
and decide whether to agree to serve as the fiscal sponsor. gpLC ao r ` GoSL
