The Practicum is offered at both of Viva Farms’ locations — in Burlington in Skagit County and in Woodinville in King County. RESOURCES Funding & Business New! Zero Footprint Restore Grants for Farmers Applications Due Feb. 19th Farmers and ranchers can receive up to $25k to implement climate-smart practices that sequester carbon. The primary goal of the program is to sequester atmospheric carbon in the form of soil organic carbon, resulting in myriad co-benefits for the public ranging from climate resilience to improved nutrient density. The secondary goals of the program are to distribute funds in a manner that reflects the following values: (1) spurring broad adoption of regenerative agricultural practices; (2) increasing awareness of and demand for ingredients produced through regenerative agriculture; and (3) distributing Restore funds equitably. Grants range from $1,500 - $25,000. The maximum grant is $25,000. Applicants must be producing food for human consumption on agricultural land and work with a Technical Assistance Provider. The goal of this grant program is to support organic and regenerative agricultural practices as a means to improve soil health, increase biodiversity, conserve water, sequester carbon, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate climate change; projects that further these objectives will be considered for an award. Projects and costs related to on-farm production are NOT eligible. Business Builder grants will fund: * market research, branding and marketing materials * business development * post-production infrastructure and processing equipment * value chain coordination across producers, processors, distributors, and buyers In order to be eligible, farms, ranches and non-farm food businesses must be growing, producing, processing and/or supporting the aggregation, distribution and marketing of grain, pulse and/or pseudocereal products within local and regional value chains. Washington’s Farm Stress Counseling Voucher Program <https://wsu.us19.list-manage.com/track/ click?u=360ae1ff3a734621548b3598b&id=36e22d57ed&e=bae7ffec58> is led by WSU Skagit County Extension and utilizes the WSU Psychology Clinic to deliver telehealth appointments to farmers who request stress-related counseling. The program is available free of charge to all farmers and farmworkers in Washington state, including those in the forestry and shellfish industries. New!
