In the Matter of Continued
Workweek Reduction in 2010
For Specific County Departments

RESOLtJTION NO, 84_09
WHEREAS, the worldwide economic downturn continues and now has contributed to a
revenue shortfall for budgeting in 2010; and,
WHEREAS, reductions in investment income, excise tax, and shared revenues from the
State of Washington continues and best estimates for the 20 I 0 budget year require continued
downward adjustments; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Jefferson County in adopting the 20 I 0 budget
have reduced the amounts of the Operating Transfers to the other funds including Public Health,
Department of Community Development, and WSU Extension from the County General Fund; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners conducted the 20 I 0 budget hearing and have
taken testimony,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED, by the Board of Commissioners that with the
aid of the County Administrator they have reviewed ways to reduce transfers from the General
Fund to the Public Health, Department of Community Development and WSU Extension in order
to balance the 2010 budget and have determined that a reduction in the workweek for employees in
those departments may be necessary and hourly employee's hours may be reduced from 40 hours
or a pro-rated reduction in hours if employee works less than 40 hours, and management employees
in the some of those Departments who are paid a salary will take a salary reduction of 625% or
10%,
