Performs basic park maintenance tasks using hand and motor tools. May act as
program/aid/volunteer lead. Supervision and guidance are received from the Parks Maintenance
Lead position and the Parks and Recreation Manager.
This is a Clerk Hire position. Clerk Hires may work a maximum of 69 hours per month.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may
be assigned.
Performs landscaping, repairs, and maintenance in county parks, athletic fields, and trails.
Uses mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws and other small tools and equipment.
Collects trash, cleans and maintains facilities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma/GED and two years' experience in parks maintenance or related field
or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,
common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written,
oral, or diagram form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Washington State Driver's License
CPR/First Aid certification required.
Required to pass criminal background check.

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Familiarity with hand and power tools, equipment and techniques commonly used in the
performance of related tasks.
Knowledge of landscape and athletic field maintenance, techniques, methods, and equipment
needed in the performance of same.
Developed interpersonal skills for working with the public and supervisors.
Ability to quickly grasp new techniques, deal with rapid changes in events, remain calm in
stressful situations, relate to various personality styles in a calm professional manner.
Independent and self-motivated to complete required deadlines while simultaneously completing
other tasks.
Ability to communicate in a clear and effective manner with supervisors, other employees and
the public.
Ability to work on Saturday and/or Sunday.

shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
