Naming a private road - Sunfield Farms, Jake Meyer, Petitioners
Statement of Issue: A property owner has submitted a petition to name a private road
giving the following three name choices: Sunfield Lane or Land for Learning Lane or
Waldorf Way (resolution Exhibit "A"). This road, as shown on Exhibit "B" of the
resolution, is located at milepost 10.90 Left on Rhody Drive, Port Hadlock.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's & Con's: There are currently five (5) addresses assigned
at milepost 10.90 Left on Rhody Drive. Sunfield Farms is the sole owner of the five (5)
addresses and no other addresses will be affected. Fire District #1 recommends naming
the road for public and responder safety in accordance with the Jefferson County 911
Emergency Locator System Ordinance #2-0401-91 (JCC 12.20).
Notices were mailed to all adjacent property owners, on January 20, 2010 and affected
agencies on January 4, 2010; FD #1 and Jeffcom-911 support the first road name choice,
Sunfield Lane. No comments were received from adjoining property owners.
In accordance with JCC 12.20.260, the Board is asked to consider the road name choices
given, together with the comments received by the affected agencies and accept one of
the choices. The Board may choose to deny the petition and return it to the petitioner
for resubmission with new name choices.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: None
Recommendation: The Department of Public Works recommends that the Board of
County Commissioners review the attached exhibits and name the road Sunfield Lane.

WHEREAS, Jefferson County has received a petition (Exhibit "A") to name a private road,
as shown on attached map (Exhibit "B"), either Sunfield Lane or Land for Learning Lane or
Waldorf Way; and
WHEREAS, the petitioner is a property owner on this road; and
WHEREAS, the petitioner wishes to establish this road name, pursuant to the Jefferson
County 911 Emergency Locator System Ordinance Number 2-0401-91, to allow for addressing
along the road; and
WHEREAS, research has shown that there are currently 5 addresses assigned at
milepost 10.90 Rhody Drive (SR 19) Left; and
WHEREAS, notification was sent to agencies and adjacent property owners; and
WHEREAS, Fire District #1 and JeffCom-911 supports Sunfield Lane;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the road be named Sunfield Lane.
