Dear Commissioners,
I wanted to voice my extreme support for the creation of a Jefferson County Public Facility District to construct and operate a new aquatic center for our community placed in Port Hadlock.
I grew up in Jefferson County and have returned 20 years later to raise my children here. Most recently I have been a resident of Port Townsend since 2017. As a child I swam on the swim
team at the pool at Mountain View Commons, and just yesterday attended the first swim meet for the new Orcas Swim Club created by the YMCA to watch my children compete. I am an avid
lap swimmer swimming 2-3 days a week, and my children both attend programs and open swim sessions weekly.
We can't wait to have a modernized aquatic center and full length lap pool. It would be so wonderful to have a facility with capacity for youth programming and adult use at the same
time. During our long cold winters, swimming in a pool are a critical part of our physical and mental health regime.
Our family is in full support of speedy plans toward a new facility for all Jefferson County residents.
Sincerely,
Aleah Lawrence-Pine
