Dear Commissioners,
This email is to strongly recommend Undersheriff Andy Pernsteiner (Andy) to replace Sheriff Joe Nole as the interim Sheriff of Jefferson County.
During my 38 years in Law Enforcement, I have worked very closely with numerous Law
Enforcement Agencies and their officers. Now that I am retired, I continue supporting the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) as a member of the JCSO Sheriff's Citizens Advisory
Group, The current Chair of the Jefferson County Civil Service Commission and the President of the JCSO Foundation. These groups allow me to routinely visit JCSO and observe the positive
leadership, mentoring and communication skills Andy has with the JCSO employees and on occasion with county citizens.
Every year, The Sheriff's Foundation puts on an Awards Picnic for JCSO employees and their families to boost morale and inspire positive relationships between the deputies, their families
and command staff. The respect and support the deputies and their families have towards Andy is amazing.
Andy exemplifies the type of ethical and transparent standards that an agency leader must excel in.
