Call to Order: Member Ken Przygocki called the meeting to order at 2:02 p.m. in the presence of
Member Dan Taylor, Chief Examiner Sarah Melancon, Lindsay Gonzalez, Acting Sheriff Pernsteiner,
and Secretary Kristen Bennett.
Public Comment: No comments received.
Approval of Minutes: Member Taylor motioned to approve the meeting Minutes from November
26, 2024, as presented. Member Przygocki seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Old Business:
1. Update on the Sergeant exam and potential schedule for the upcoming test date: Chief
Examiner Melancon provided an overview of the Sergeants' Exam and outlined plans to
proceed with the written exam on February 8th at the Sheriff's Office. Member Przygocki
agreed to serve as a proctor. The date for the oral testing is to be determined.
2. Continuation on discussion regarding use of PST for future Sergeant Exams: Chief
Examiner Melancon presented the results of a survey conducted across various counties
regarding their procedures for administering Sergeants' promotional exams. PST is the
standard used by most outside agencies for administering written tests and assessments
for Sergeant Exams.. She also provided a brief overview of the PST testing procedures.
New Business:
1. Acting Sheriff Pernsteiner requested an exemption from the Civil Service Rules to allow
Deputy Murray to participate in the Sergeant Exam: The Acting Sheriff provided an
explanation for the decision to allow Deputy Murray to take the written exam, despite
not meeting the qualifications specified in the job description. Member Taylor moved to
deny the waiver, and the motion was seconded by Member Przygocki. The motion was
approved. There were no public comments.
2. Appointment of 2025 Chair: Member Ken Przygocki was elected Chairman for 2025.
