Good Morning Commissioners,
My name is Christine Porter and I work at Peak 6 Adventure store here on the Upper HoH Rd. I'm a Marine Corps Veteran and I have some comments that I would like to express about
how not replacing or adding a temporary fix to this road is not only affecting the local businesses here but also in Forks and as far away as Port Angeles.
People stay in Forks to have easier access to the Hall of Mosses trail which people come from all over the world to see and hike the trails. And in the summertime the Park will
see around 2500 to 3000 cars Daily. You read that right, Daily! That's $30 per car with an estimate of $75,000 to $90,000. Just think of how much money is being spent in Forks and
also Port Angeles, where many people will stay and drive an hour and 40 minutes out here to hike the trails. Businesses are seeing cancellations being made because people do not have
access to the Trails that are located by the Visitor Center.
People don't come here for the Visitor Center. It's closed most of the time. They come here to Hike the Beautiful trails. My job here at Peak 6 and those that work at the Hard
Rain Cafe are at risk. Same for those who work at the Local Hotels and Restaurants not just in Forks but Port Angeles as well. A lot of jobs are at stake and a lot of businesses are
also affected by the damaged road and the delay in repairing it.
We need to find a solution Quickly. If I had a business that failed for whatever reason I would want to help others so they wouldn't have to go through the same thing that I
went through. Maybe that's my Marine Corps training to help others or my Christian background or just wanting to be an outstanding and productive American.
Thank you for letting me be heard
Sincerely,
Christine Porter
