Chimacum Creek Drainage District landowner,
As you know,the Chimacum Creek valleys with their rich soils have been the agricultural life blood of Jefferson County.Their agricultural
development was made possible through alterations in the natural drainage system.Most of the drainage improvements were undertaken a hundred
years ago,in the 1920s,by Jefferson County Drainage District#1,also known as the Chimacum Drainage District(DD#1).DD#1 was formed in
1919 but has been inactive since 1974,leaving drainage maintenance and management work up to individual landowners.As we can all see as we
drive through Center Valley,drainage is impaired.Jefferson County is partnering with the Conservation District to explore options for DD#1,and
we need your input.
