Dear local partner, The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service is extending the public comment period on the proposed rule to revise the Endangered Species Act listing for the grizzly bear in the lower 48 states and the species-specific 4(d) rule. The comment period will be extended 60 days from March 17, 2025 to May 16, 2025. This action is available for public inspection in the <https://www.federalregist er.gov/d/2025-04269> <https://www.federalregister.gov/d/2025-04269> Federal Register <https://www.federalregister.gov/d/2025-04269> Reading Room today <https://www.federalregister.gov/d/2025-04269 > , and will officially publish in the Federal Register on Monday, March 17. Additional information is available on the project webpage: www.fws.gov/grizzlyrulemaking <http://www.fws.gov/grizzlyrulem aking> . Note that this proposal does not affect the two nonessential experimental populations of grizzly bears in the North Cascades and Bitterroot ecosystems. Any changes to those population-specific regulations would require separate rulemaking processes with opportunities for public review and comment. Please let us know if you have any questions.
