HomeMy WebLinkAboutWORKSHOP re Connectivity Summit review JEFFERSON COUNTY
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
WORKSHOP AGENDA REQUEST
TO: Board of County Commissioners
FROM: Mark McCauley, County Administrator
DATE: March 24, 2025
SUBJECT: WORKSHOP re: Reviewing the Recently Concluded Connectivity Summit with
Danny Milholland and Zach Moser of The Production Alliance (TPA)
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
The County, in partnership with the TPA, hosted the first ever Connectivity Summit held over
three days and March 7, 8 and 9, 2025. It has been suggested that an organized review of the
event would be warranted to determine what went well, what didn't and how to improve the
next Connectivity Summit, should the County and the TPA team up again.
ANALYSIS:
Danny Milholland and Zach Moser with TPA will take part in the workshop and help guide the
discussion.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None.
RECOMMENDATION:
Conduct the workshop.

"We have heard you" Acknowledgement Project for Local Youth
It was promised to Mark Harris of Port Townsend High School that there would be follow-up with
area youth about how their voice has been heard and if any changes would occur as a result of
their participation in the event. We are still working on this but would love it if the county was
willing to make a statement to this effect. Project ideas from youth that seem manageable in the
short term include 1) the organizing of a Student Discount for High School Youth Campaign to
acknowledge older youth's value to our community and 2) making improvements to the Uptown
Community Center.
Sunday Workshop Climate Change Element Feedback
We are collecting feedback from Sunday Workshop Leaders to see if their workshops were able
to create feedback for the Comprehensive Plan.

• The Connectivity Summit was a valuable use of my/my organization's time. -4 out of 5
• I will attend the Connectivity Summit next year. -4 out of 5
• Please describe a takeaway from this weekend, for example a connection you made,
something you learned, or an idea you liked.
o "inspiration for a more interactive tabling set up, connection with potential
organizational collaborators, connection with potential youth leaders to
participate in future programs"
o "I loved Friday's focus on young people, all the networking I was able to do, and
all the ways we as an org connected with community members."
o "It made me so happy to see so many Organizations step up and be involved! I
grew up in Port Townsend but have felt out of touch with what the youth's
interests are and what support they need. I walked away with a better
understanding."
• Please offer a suggestion you have to improve next year's Summit.
o "I would make the tabling time a little longer on Saturday, I didn't have adequate
time to circulate around the whole room. "
o "More room at the tables and space between the tables!"
o "The big tabling space was loud and pretty overwhelming. If there's a way to
break it into smaller sections that would help mitigate somewhat. Maybe grouping
orgs loosely by function/sector'?"

• Investing in recreation facilities, such as sports fields, youth clubs, and indoor recreation
centers, could significantly improve opportunities for youth engagement.
• A focus on outdoor programs and nature-based activities would align with students' interests
in environmental education.
• Spaces where teens can socialize, like cafes or skating rinks, are in high demand.
