Legislature Heads Towards Next Major Deadline
Today, March 21st, marks day 68 of the 2025 regular session, with 37 days remaining. The next cutoff is Wednesday, April 2nd, for bills to pass out of the opposite house policy committees.
We will keep you updated on Senate Bill 5798, which would allow taxing districts to exceed the 101% limit. We anticipate a hearing in the Senate Ways and Means Committee next week.
In addition, we will be reviewing the proposed state budget to ensure funding for a volunteer firefighter PTSD study. Stay tuned, as passing the budget will be challenging due to an
estimated $10–$12 billion shortfall over the next four-year cycle. Thank you for your emails and phone calls to your legislators. Please review the attached updated bill tracking report.
