Re: Support for the Hoh Tribe's Congressional Directed Spending (CDS) request
Dear Congresswoman Cantwell,
On behalf of Jefferson County, I write in support of the Hoh Tribe's Congressionally Directed Spending
(CDS) request to complete the Hoh Tribe Resiliency Center. In the unfortunate event of a major disaster,
the Resiliency Center will provide a safe place for residents of west Jefferson County to seek shelter.
Jefferson County is at high risk and vulnerability for earthquakes and tsunamis. The significant potential
damage from an earthquake and/or a tsunami and the rural location of west Jefferson County could result
in residents needing shelter and supplies for a substantial period of time. The Hoh Tribe Resiliency Center
would not only provide shelter and supplies to residents, but also provide an emergency operations center
to help manage the response to a disaster.
The Hoh Tribe Resiliency Center is an important project for the safety of our community, and we fully
support the Hoh Tribe's CDS request for funding.
Sincerely,
JEFFERSON COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
