HomeMy WebLinkAbout032825 email - How to have laundry at a reasonable price for UrbanALERT: BE CAUTIOUS This email originated outside the organization. Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. May not be a solution. I had an encounter with a director of a Non- profit. I will not say which one because of the common attitude. We will refer to this Non- profit director as N.D. N.D says they are tired of using sub - contractor for laundry because the health department runs out of vouchers middle of the month. N.D. says it would be less expensive to "have our own machines". They don't know how expensive commercial machines are that they can't afford, they don't understand that residential or commercial machines, both are expensive to fix, and they can break down easily even when relatively new. I tried to explain what a terrible track record non-profits have repairing broken showers (209a shelter shower number 2 has NEVER been fixed.) , sinks laundry a kitchen appliances . I explained to them if they spent money on machines the machines will break down social service providers are abysmal at paying for for repairs. N.D. threw temper tantrum. They want machines without knowing cost/true cost in addition another asset to insure. Which means consumers walk in to more broken utility services the contractors won't get fixed. It was quite an entitled rant considering no one is working on getting people into housing where there are currently empty subsidized units. What to do? Cheers Maggie 🙂
